So that's what we have to live with.

He may be right about the sticks but the MINIX X7 mini is 3118 and I have two running at 1.7 OC and they are rock solid, MINIX claim that they only use 3118 on the x7's,

Maybe your contact is one of the cheapskates that has uses -T's and hoping people will think all are the same?

Well, he did say "android sticks" - I guess the standalone bigger mediacenters are an exception.

I bet most of them kept ordering XYZ product with NO IDEA the manufacturer of that product switched to the 3188T!

Resellers don't know about this China "cost reduction shit" that manufacturers decide to do! Those manufacturer do not "rebrand, relable, or version SHIT!".... It happens all the time in China!!!!! A manufacturer changes design, changes a chip, etc to reduce cost AND DOES NOT FREAKING TELL ANYONE! They do not release a version Rev B or anything. They certainly do not tell resellers who order the SAME THING "week after week" and all of a sudden get something different they did not expect! Trust me.... I live all this China change crap in my real job and other hobbies! It's a CONSTANT problem!
The manufacturer thinks "this is transparent to the product" and thus they don't say anything.
In fact it's NOT TRANSPARENT to the value chain that they thought it would be!
But to be honest 100% I don't think they give a shit! It's about making profit and that's about it! They let the value chain deal with it! AND THAT is what I have been seeing for 5 years now dealing with China manufacturers on many fronts....

China's change control process is a JOKE! In the end they do not want to go through the cost of re-launching a product due to a manufacturing change or a chip change to reduce manufacturing costs! The communication channel on this SUCKS... Again folks... you need to trust me on this. It will NOT be the last time we see this shit happen!

I don't think RockChip is to blame here.... I bet they told the manufacturer of this "new cheaper chip" and that manufacturer WENT FOR IT.... Then as this funneled through the supply chain, ONLY NOW are we seeing the ramifications.

        My 2 cents...

        Bob

I would agree that RockChip is not to be blamed for this issue, although I do not feel sorry for the brand owner/reseller.

It is true that non-professional manufacturers does these type of cost down to increase their margins and conceal the information about the change.

But a PROFESSIONAL brand owner/reseller would be able to catch these under-hand tatics by the manufacturers from a solid QA system.

Also, it is partly because the continous pressure from the brand owner/reseller in pushing the manufacturers to lower the price of the product which forces the manufacturers to seek various ways to cost down. The brand owners/resellers are also responsible in this whole chain of events because the reseller is also pushing to increase their own profits.

In the electronics industry, the margins over the over-all product supply chain are roughly as follows:

The OEM/ODM manufacturers (such as Foxconn) 3~10% margin
The product brand owner (such as Apple) 20~50% margin
The distributors/resellers (such as BestBuy) 10~30% margin

And it is common practise that the brand owner/reseller demands a quarterly price reduction from the manufacturers, also ask for further discounts when the volume increases. Hence, it is not difficult to see why the manufacturers tries everything they can to reduce cost as they obtain the least amount of margin by being at the bottom of the system supply-chain.

What I am trying to say is that nobody is innocent over the entire supply-chain when something like this happens, the brand owners/resellers are just equally responsible for these non-ethical conduct, the margins enjoyed by the vendors are there to ensure a reliable quality control system, when the system failed, everyone in the supply-chain are at fault, because they all belong in this system. Sadly, it is the consumer like us whom suffers at the end.

That we try but is hard. The MK802IV with RK3188T runs ok with my new rom.
Why the MK809III make trouble with it i dont know may it has some to do with the DDR Clock.

Not sure about that if TVDroid runs with the OC kernels.
Connection between the two maybe that the mk802IV aren't affected by?

I do i just wondering what the thing we are missing is since it doesn't seem to be the kernels.

One device works fine and the other doesn't yet the hardware nearly the same.

Update. I have heard back from the Chinese seller, he states the above firmware should boost my CPU from 1.41ghz to 1.8ghz. I should have my laptop in a few days so I will flash and let you guys know.

Antutu over 19000 and i can shutdown my Stick. Until Neo made his new Baby, i think this is the best ROM for me.
I can't boot the finless 1.6b (with any kernel) on my S400.. I also had some weird problems with flashing it but once I manage to flash it, it stucks in the loader.

EDIT: Neo´s CROM 1.3 runs @ 1.61GHz on my Device and Antutu with 17960 ... i test more and let you know.

TV-Droid you have really checked the sign on the Rockship chip of your cozy devices. Maybe you have different Revisions.

Two Model T's inside with a different result. For me this cx-919 ROM shows only a fine bootloop on my TV-01, with stock kernel and full cx-919 ROM.

I would blame them all, if it would help to get the Model T unlocked.
In history of chip production, I remember a lot of cases of chip locking down shi.. and the chinese guys are not that special. Maybe they copied it originally from companies like Intel and AMD. They didn't talk sometimes much about, what they have done with there CPU's in the past, because they don't want to make it easy to crack them.
