I observed this behavior when I tried Neo 1.7, Finless 1.6b and many other ROMs with various kernels. So I think techically the cpu is not capped at 1.416Ghz, it just cannot work without problems at 1.6 or higher frequences. Neo 1.9a rom is different in that No-Frills even doesn't allow me to choose the cpu frequency 1.6Ghz or higher, the highest it shows me is always 1.416Ghz no matter what kernel I'm flashing with this Neo 1.9a rom.
By now I tried dozens of ROMs and kernels and I cannot yet find any combination which would work without screen blinking and flickering at 1.6Ghz or higher on my cx-919, almost gave up too ..
Overclocking aside. What about flickering and blinking with this combination even on stock 1.4ghz? Is it ok or blinking?

Try the Neomode Hybrid Rom 1.7 with Sams Kernels. This should Work for Your Device.

Neomode 1.9a with default kernel works perfectly on my cx919, no blinking or flickering. No-Frills shows 1.414Ghz, Antutu score 16660, nenamark2 60fps, wifi works well, I don't use BT so cannot comment on it.
I tried various kernels with this ROM (Neo 1.9a) and all of them work okay, but maximum frequency is always 1.416Ghz no matter what kernel is used.

Yes, yesterday I tried Neomode 1.7 with various Sams Kernels on my cx-919. No-Frills correctly showed kernel cpu frequency such as 1.6 or 1.8Ghz depending on the kernel, but screen flashed every 3-5 seconds and there was occasional flickering, same as with other roms. So this combination did not work for me. Maybe anything else is a factor? I don't use HDMI extension cable, cx-919 is plugged directly into hdmi port on my TV (Sony Bravia XBR6 37").

Can you tell me what was your CPU clock speed with Stock rom ?

Fine, but the result is that there is non blinking 1080p stock kernel somewhere on stock 1.4ghz somewhere on 1.6ghz. For me overclocking works so that I get more from it. For others it is another stock kernel without overclocking (but 1080p). For my mk902 stock rom is only 720p, real improvement over mk902 stock kernel (overclocked and 1080p and not blinking).
Other custom kernels usually blinks even on this 1.4ghz. So that maybe there is some new patch put into stock kernels with manufacters but not yet in custom kernels.

As for the 1080p kernels, I tested Neomode 1.9a with his 1080 kernel3.img, it works perfectly on my cx-919, no screen blinking or flickering. No-Frills shows max frequency 1.416Ghz, Antutu score 15300, nenamark2 score 36fps.

It is a mess. Neomode 1.9a with kernel3 doesn't boot on my 3188t, only 720p kernel but this 720p is not blinking, that's true.

Yes it is, too messy. I should report that when I tested various Neomode kernels (kernel, kernel1, kernel2, kernel3), I usually flashed only the kernel without reflashing the whole Neomode 1.9a ROM. But occasionally my cx-919 got stuck at the boot screen and I needed to reflash the whole ROM to fix this. I don't remember exactly, but it seems to me that this happened when I flashed a 720p kernel after the 1080p one.

Just noticed this in the bootup/dmesg output

I was scrolling through the output and notcied this....

[ 0.701774] PMU: registered new PMU device of type 0
                      [ 0.701907] DVFS MSG: core: dvfs_adjust_table_lmtvolt get leakage_level = 2
                      [ 0.701966] DVFS MSG: aclk_gpu: dvfs_adjust_table_lmtvolt get leakage_level = 2
                      [ 0.702873] cpufreq: delete arm freq(1608000)
                      [ 0.703214] rk3188 cpufreq version 2.1, suspend freq 816 MHz
What I read into this is that, maybe due to a lousy power supply (leakage_level = 2) ?; that the cpu max frequency gets pulled down, see the third line.
I'll look into it further when i feel like it.

I tried the TVDroid combination on cs968/TV01 without any success. I tried mixed combination with the cr11s/cs968 ROM with overclocked cs968 kernel too. Nothing.

My device don't like the 1.20 loader of the neomode rom, doesn't even boot. With the 1.24 bootloader it will looped in boot/recovery. With the stock bootloader 2.07 or 2.08 from cs968 I reach loading system, then looped.

It seems, that I need only one img from a rk3188 device and the booting would always fail on my T Modell. Are the Model T imgs anyway connected to the hardware, like a security fingerprint? Sounds paranoid, I know.

                          So far, so bad.

Total newb here, don't own anything yet... still researching.

I noted that Geekbuying has updated their site to specify 3188T for most of their sticks now. You can search for "RK3188 -RK3188T" and the only hits are either the Minix boxen or out-of-stock sticks.

No not paranoid. I have try the same.
The Rom with old Loader only boots for me when I delete the Wifi Driver in system img.
I dont understand it. Any idea?

Maybe the boot loader is connected to the T-models hardware and the imgs have a new connection to the boot loader.
We should search in the imgs for new files or hidden files.

Or we ask the N.S.A. They know most of the secrets around the world. :-)
