          Upgrading an RK3188 XT-Q7-V10 2013-12-05

          Hello all,
I want to upgrade an older RK3188 Android 4.4.2,
The main board says: XT-Q7-V10 2013-12-05
          but the sticker says: Q7 8G/2G XT20140627254ST
          Build number: KOT49Heng.yangfeihu.20140704.094042 test-keys

What is the latest firmware for this unit and where to download it from?
Also, what is the right way to flash the new firmware?
          Thanks!

            External USB webcam

May be somebody had or knows how to fix this webcam issue...

I have an external USB Logitech C270 webcam connected to my Q7 box. It was working fine with the stock firmware on Android 4.2.2.

After flashing the new stock 4.4.2 FW - the camera is producing a dark and blurred image, as if it were in "low light" mode!

              Mic Input

Just curious how you manage to get the audio input? Does the cam have audio mic?

                  Webcam subject

On the same webcam subject. Using "Camera ICS" app, if you increase the exposure to +3, you get a perfect image!

I wonder how this can be fixed? Skype unfortunately doesn't have exposure settings

Would be really nice if we had a way to play MKV in Kitkat with these XT-Q7V-V10 boxes.

Seems we need to go back to JB for that. Tried Beyond Xbmc and nothing, stutterfest on everything I try.

It's obvious no hardware rendering is being used as CPU is at 100% usage.

                    Anyone know whats up?

                      Download Firmware Fail

Hello! I've been trying to flash your rom but it keeps failing. Could it be that the device is showing as connected with Layer 1-1-3?

This is by no stretch of the imagination equal to what the professional rom developers do here but a quick fix to make the box usable for 720p and 1080p streaming video until Lewy or someone else steps in.
                      Whats done:
kernel is vidsync patched and overclocked to gpu 798 ddr 800 cpu stock
                      some useless apps deleted
added some useful apps wifianalyser and beyond xbmc (Thanks Flumster!!)
changed bootanimation to something I like better
Think you will find 1080 and 720 movies will play smooth now no micro skipping. Flash at your own risk hopefully your box will not explode..............
                      download from here:

This is not rooted and i have no idea on sound config just run thru the tv hdmi
Thats all hopefully helps a few.

                      Cheers,

                        Hi
i have question. i have k-42 and it has hdmi 1.3 cable and i recently buy q7 rk3188 device that has 1.4a version according to geekbuying site. when i connect q7 device with hdmi 1.3 cable there is no sound, i tried on two televisions. when i connect with q7 original cable (1.4a) sound works. k-r42 has sound with 1.3 and 1.4a cable. So i was wondering is there a difference between devices and can q7 device work on hdmi 1.3 or my device/cable are not working propertly

Your TV should have a vga port for this to work most old tvs have, I got this of ****

                                http://cgi.****.co.uk/ws/****ISAPI.d...m=111455145333

                                It is full 1080

connected it up and no more flickering! it has a mini hdmi adaptor and audio out which can be hooked up to your tv or speaker set up, hope this helps. I also tried the q7s firmware it seems really good full HD playback on XBMC working flawlessly, its still clocked at 1.4 but everything works
Thanks very much for your info. I think you may had pinned the root cause of the flicker.

I am using veclinux' rom. Everything is great in 720 but frequent flicker on 1080.

I have upgraded to a more powerful psu, flicker stays on 1080. So it should not because of power. Then I tried the converter you mentioned. The flicker does disappeared even under 1080, but there looks like some very small interference in the analog signal. The noise can be tell if watched half meter from TV. Not sure where the noise come from as if I test the convrter on PC, everything looks pretty good.

These are my experiments so far. I will stick with the digital hdmi signal, with 720, as the 1080 is also scaled from 720 anyway.
