So perhaps it is indeed receiver-related.

Retired - HardwareGuru Rom 03 - Firmware for Neo X7

Hi Guru,
I flashed your ROM yesterday and what can i say - it is perfect in almost all respects! The only minor problem which I have is Skype. I do have a logitech c920 camera which have stereo microphone build-in, and this camera is set as a sound input device for my minix Neo X7. Camera works just fine in "camera" app (although I would love to see ability of android to utilize its full 1080p video resolution), but sound in skype is very choppy. I tried to call skype test call number and it connects, but sound is choppy and after 3-4 seconds app quit the call and goes to main skype menu. I am using 3.2 version of the skype which is stable and worked fine in stock rom of my device. I tried latest version from play store, it works the same way with the same behavior.
Here is my sound setup - minix is connected to my TV through HDMI. I believe there is only 2 chanel stereo which my TV is capable of, so no optical or any other complications in the mix...
Please fix the skype behaviour....
Other than this, rom is almost perfect - very smooth 1080 streaming and playback...
Thank you,
Alex

Can you also document the usage of rkflashtool ? On Windows, I don't see any GUI for the same.

FYI, I flashed this and had the same crash issues with ESPN, CBS, ABC and some other (I think HBO and NBC) apps here in the US, that we had with minix stock 008 & 007e. Once you start a stream on these, the screen goes blank and the box stays on but hdmi output crashes. There is no way to turn off the box with the power button so you need to unplug and reboot.
There was something that minix introduced with the overlay or something in 007e/008 that they had to undo so I think it has something to do with how you display 1080p vs. what these apps can handle. Minix went back to the drawing board and retracted 008 due to several issues including this 1080p crash. Their 009 did not have the crash issues on these apps and Wassers kitkat rom doesn't either if that helps you narrow down where the problem is. Let me know if you need help testing further on this.
Cheers!
EDIT: forgot to mention that minix stock 006 works fine streaming the apps above.

C920 is a big camera with even video compression hardware built in (but android dont use it), so it consumes a lot of power. This is probably the reason of my troubles in the past.

Hell Again
I watched a Simpsons episode trough icefilms (with xbmc minix edition): worked perfect even with 5.1 DD (spdif passtrough).
Then i didnt use my minix for a while but if started it again, I had a random crash (no idea what happend)
Then i watched another episode, this time from usb harddrive. Due the crash my audio had to be setup again. first i tried the HDMI passtrough but here I had the same random audio drops like somewhene before. After switching again to SPDIF, no problems with audio anymore. (used beyond XBMC).
I would say everything works like a charm (if no more crashes acure, but i havent read any so, lets hope for the best)
Thansk for great one!

i liked hwg rom back when he was on the minix forum. too bad minix forum behavior is weird...
but i have one question: xbmc plays everything nice but the stock video player (or what ever it is called) aborts every playback. is this normal? not that i would use it on a regular basis. just wondering.
a further question: i have an old av receiver so i like to use spdif. is there a audio delay time i can set up which is common for the desync for the video over hdmi and audio over spdif setup? or do i have to figure it out myself? and further more: is there a possibility to retain the set up delay for spdif but keep it at 0 for audio over hdmi?
any help is greatly appreciated. and again: awesome rom!

When you play a movie press the speaker icaon and set the delay to +0.250, then press set as default.
Most recievers have a delay option but i cant tell where it is in your particular reciever.
I hope you get it working

I will be back on monday.
(Probably dont have time to have a peek on here till monday.)
