Just checking the kernel settings here, the CPU seems to be locked to 1.6ghz max. Tried changing it with trickster but doesn't stick. Can anyone confirm this?

If the CPU is locked at 1.6GHz and the source is not so open like it is being discussed, I feel Minix X7 is a better choice even at this stage isn't it?

LAN port working perfect. It was connected without any delay or problem.

Do you think that I could flash my Tronsmart S89 elite with the firmware of the showed box? If yes, Can you give me a link.

Maybe It's just a bug in the firmware of Tronsmart.

Same firmware, same reults.

Maybe after reinstall that problem is fixed. Flashing is the first thing you can do when a problem was found.

Likely the amazon device, but how easy it'll be for custom kernels, etc is still a mystery (though likely). At least with these I know what I'm signing up for.

Take the Ouya for example. Lots of promise and potential but the manufacturer was misguided an ultimately it was a big let down. It's gotten better with CM11 but look how long it's been out.

If they can fix the 'cant install paid apps bug' and the devs can sort out the kernel for this Tronsmart box it'll be a really great, fast device. At the moment as usual with all new Chinese boxes its fairly buggy. I've been reading this week it looks like Google are heading into the TV box world again. Will be interesting to see what they come up with.

Ultimately I'm looking for a STB that I can resell to clients interested in the archival of their digital content so 5.1 is my main interest. I'm curious to see what happens but I personally don't believe I'll be using the amazon box for the one fact is that I can't easily resell it.
