Ugoos UT2 - Reviews?

flhthemi, I have got in touch with my contact at Ugoos and directed him to this thread. I am sure there has been some sort of mix up with dealtime if they really have sent you one with a T chip in and I hope that Eugene will come in and clear this up for you all as my new machine is running bloody lovely.

I have not even put a custom rom on it yet and I am really impressed with how smooth everything is.

I know you have nothing to compare to but my T model test machine stuttered even moving between home screens and bringing up the app list. My new version without the T chip there is no lag at all if this helps at all.

What I REALLY need, is a way to say for certain it is in fact a "T" chip or not. The unit is great I did see some stuttering on a movie yesterday but I'm nearly certain it was the movie and NOT the UT2. I see no issues with it at all. I need to know exactly what I have as I dont want a brick if I should decide to try a custom ROM. THIS is my big issue, what do I have? RK3188T or RK3188.....

EU type power supply with a crappy US adapter that will not lock into a solid connection and HAD to be taped together to maintain one (EU plug pops out of US adapter) and also seems to be a bit of an electric shock hazard

My build number is dated 20140106

XBMC version was NOT Beyond XBMC out of the box

The box sleeve it came in shows it as an 8gb unit when it is in fact 32gb

And because no one else seems to have these things showing up in their units, it makes me question what have I got?

it looks like you have 3188T, all r3188T has cpu lock by 1,4ghz

I ordered a UT1 from dealsprime and I ended up getting the RK3188T chip locked at 1.4GHz with an Antutu score of 16000.
CPUZ, Antutu and SetCPU reported a CPU frequency of 1.4GHz.
Their posting clearly mentions that the chip is RK3188 and the CPU frequency is 1.6GHz.
So no more buying from dealsprime for me.

i bought an ugoos ut2 to replace my minix neo x5.

it came pre installed with beyond xbmc .
it has build number from 20140214.

but the movies are very laggy and not playing smooth
where can i change the language inside xbmc.

and how can i add shortcutszzz

My Dilemma an Update

As of this morning I was instructed by dealsprime to return the UT2 I have. It's not clear to me if I'm to be refunded or the unit is going to be replaced. They did say to send it back for repair/replacement but it's a standard type of email as it also says a lot of other stuff about packing it well so the screen doesn't get cracked, etc..

I have factory reset it and packed it back in the box and we'll see what we see. Good for dealsprime...too bad we had to involve Paypal to get them to move on it. So at least I may finally end up with a real 3188. At best, they'll just credit my Paypal account and I can go somewhere else.

I tried my standard test files that I use on everything I try and they all played fine for me even on the stock rom. These include a 20 gig 1080p Hobbit film and a 13 gig 1080p Wolverine.

Make sure you are testing them locally and not over the network to eliminate any network problems.

FYI, Don't pay for faster Shipping.

Kind of feel like I got ripped off on shipping by Aliexpress. I spent extra dollar's for a faster shipping, and it's the same amount of time if I just went with the free option. So, $23.62 pissed away. It's a scam don't do it.

17 days later unit shows up today.

Well, I received my ut2 today. And out of the box downloaded antutu and got a 17993 score. The Wifi blows the mk808 away. Came with a real U. S. power adapter, so none of the problems listed above. Also no T chip, cpu set at 1.6 Not Alot of blot ware installed on the unit. Remote control is nothing to write home about. I probably will never use it for my needs. Overall very impressed at what this box can do. Looking forward to trying some custom roms to see if performance goes up a bit. But really I don't see any need to really upgrade other than a newer version of Android.

Happy for you! Mine was very good at 1.4 but I just feel I should have had what I paid for. They are very nice devices and I like the overall construction of it too.

When I start XBMC, the android menu bar (with buttons like volume up/down etc.) is still visible. It would be nice if this bar isn't displayed when XBMC is started. What is the most elegant manner to accomplish this?
Also, is it possible to run XBMC when I start up the Ugoos UT2, as I'll only use XBMC on it?

Your UT2 remote has 4 buttons of color on it. I think the GREEN button will hide the menu bar. Hide it BEFORE you start Beyond XBMC.
