Do you have something connected with dvi? I think DVI will not provide all EDID informations.
It is not what you think. If the EDID request comes back null throughout the 250 ms scan then the code assumes the monitor is DVI.

Frankly d33 I want to help and you know that, but I scrapped my reset button because I play to often with it, now is it very difficult to reset my device so I want to be sure its final release or something like this.
For now You made an amazing override kernel for us and Beta KK and my device run like hell with this, so I think I will wait

OK, so now you know what to change in your kernel?

My TV Sticks are perfect for testing cause they have an onboard reset switch.
But you can install a reboot apk, booting to flash mode without pressing anything ;-) if your device is rooted.

Again the EDID reports audio capability (LPCM only):

I now know what the problem is. I don't know why some TVs are correctly providing EDID and some not.

Thanks, but I scrapped my switch onboard reset, and to use any reboot apps you have to boot first... sometimes with some kernels the device do not boot

D33, could you use an a928 tester? It has built in microphone and ap6330 chipset.

V4027 - Boot problem remains (Booted logo, desktop and rebooted roughly 30 seconds). With USB OTG tricks, it booted up to a stable desktop. There was no sound input and output devices. Wifi+BT works. No Mac address.

V4029. Boot problems remains. I needed to boot it using USB trick.

This version is very nice in terms of sound manager.

                          Mic (sound recording) works.

Audio works well. Audio output depends on the sound encoding scheme of a movie. I had my TV box connected to my monitor via HDMI as well as an optical SPDIF cable connecting to a Yamaha AV receiver driving 5.1 speakers. I summarised in the table below.
Sound Devices Manager HDMI connected to TV/Monitor SPDIF connected to a Yamaha AVR

stereo means audio works - left and right channels.
stereo* means audio works - 5.1 channels down-mixed to left and right channels.
Stereo** I had music from the movie but missing the centre channel (dialog) and rear channels.

SPDIF passthrough works very well (5.1 channels) on my AV receiver. I guess you might have different results on the HDMI port depending on your TV/Monitor's capability.

V4031 - Only booted with logo and restarted. No desktop. USB trick did not work for this one.

V4032 - Similar to V4029. boot problem. USB trick works. MIC works. sound manager has SPDIF removed.

                          Cheers,

Your kernel boots with ac power supply to the desktop, but after about 20 seconds it falls back to system booting(bootanimation). Apps like settings and explorer do not start. RKvideo starts, but then the loop reboot follows again and again. I have no choice to pull parts of the logcat to see what kind of loop we have.

                            JDfense

                            Edit:
I forgot to mention, that otg isn't anymore able to boot the rom, only to the bootlogo ugoos, then it switches without looping back to boot.
