KitKat 4.4 ROM Build Offers No Advantage

I have test the new KitKat 4.4 ROM build to the "T", yet I have not found any advantage over the current 4.2 ROM builds ... IMHO, I believe you are better off to keep your 4.2 ROM build on your device ... Don't even waste your time installing the KitKat 4.4 ROM on your device, simply because their is no advantage, bottom line ...!

I agree with this, if your box is stable. With the KitKat rom, my box is rock solid. But it does not have Dolby passthrough in XBMC,and missing other items. If the 4.2 was this stable, I would stick with the 4.2.

Same here. The CSQ version seems to be very stable with occasional blackout for couple of seconds and is one of the best till now on my CS968. Interestingly, my CS968 board has the exact name htc_t018 v4.
1080p videos playing in youtube seems to be very smooth. (I use Ethernet).

CR11s version blackouts way too often.

D33 Kitkat kernels (beta) were not stable at all. Tried many of them and like somebody reported, the LED was bright solid blue with CSQ rom but was very dim blue with D33 kernels. Had to plug out/plug in multiple times to get it to boot similar to my experience with CX 919 II.

Is the CSQ version a true 1080p ROM?

Both version are no true 1080p versions. The d33 kernels up to 4.xx do not work good, but the power light is not important in this context.
I think they did no 1080p KitKat, because of the weak performance you will get with a clocked down model T like our cs968.

Thanks for replying! Does your CS968 also have blackouts?

Mine does with almost every ROM I have tried though with the stock/Tech1's ROM, the TV keeps showing the "Hdmi input N" every now and then but no blackouts.

Would this be my board issue or ROM issue?

              Not sure what you mean.
Black outs while booting: I saw this never with stock ROM either 4.22/4.42, but with custom ROM/kernel
After booting complete: I assume, it has either something to do with the power supply. Over otg the ROMs seem always a bit hungry for a stronger power supply - so blackouts could cause to this point.
With the ac power supply it should be stable with stock ROM.
Basicly I don't think it is a hardware problem, but maybe the cs968 have a very unique board design off standards.

One question for Tech1: Why do we have the announcement for a new beyond XBMC in the headline of the new kitkat stock?

I have cs968 htc018 2013 11 v3 board with mtk bluetooth (6622 or something) and wifi (59??), I installed custom rom and stock rom. I even install from cloudnetgo (nice). I dont have any issue you mention, all went well.., ofcourse, when i install AP6210 version I dont have wifi nor bluetooth connection. My tips is, beside what chip of network u have, dont forget about the camera resolution (2mp or 5mp) i only install the 2mp firmwares.

I have the Dec 2013 V4. See my snapshots.

Thanks for the tip. Yes, I too have the 2MP camera and I always install only the 2MP versions. But still the issue.

Maybe some solder is loose which worsens when it becomes a bit warm?

These blackouts are with 3A stock power adapter that came with it.

For the board snapshot, you can check my previous post to compare with any other boards you have seen? My board seems very similar to others I have seen in these forums.

Maybe the HDMI solder is loose somewhere which becomes worse when the board gets warm?

Okay, 3A must be enough power. I have only 2,5 A. I can't See much difference accept the Mediathek part and you have a blue instead of green board. But for sure you have newer revisions of some parts.
