Which Box we are talking about? Round S89 or Square M8 Box
Round Vega S89 don't need SD to install firmware! download .img file Connect your Box to PC start that installation Program Select the box -Start installation (you got to press hidden Reset button in AV port While Power on the device ) Use the supplied Micro Usb Cable only other cables not sit properly and do not connect the box to the PC...

The sequence of what to do if your machine bricks is as follows.

Create the SD card using the bootcardmaker.exe util which is contained in the amlogic_tools.rar which can be downloaded from the tronsmart.eu website.

When creating your bootable sd card using bootcardmaker.exe and the u-boot.bin that is 352Kb in sixe (thanks Bob), once it's formatted copy that file and the usb刷机工具说明.wps file onto the sdcard.

Now you need to open up your vega (only do this if you are not getting any joy with any other method, mine was unresponsive to anything), and short out the 2 pins in the link below.

I couldn't get mine out of the base and to be honest you don't really need to, I shorted them with a small screwdriver.

now...

1) Unplug and plug back in power. No LED should be on. (also have your SD card inserted)
2) Short the pins and hold them shorted.
3) Press the reset button and hold it.
4) Power on the box using the power button.
5) Continue to hold reset and pins shorted until Windows bongs,

You can now flash your rom using the USB flashing tool and .img file of your choice, I used the original firmware.

Do a normal attempt at flashing the first time, it will fail at 3% or something like that, next repeat above and do a full erase which should get you to about 5%, You will need to restart the program each time.
The next time you do the flash untick the box that says "Erase bootloader" it will then flash further to about 6%, this is the sweet spot because at this point you no longer need to short out the pins, you can remove the SD card and you can restart and flash as normal and it works.

Hi RAD. I could not find that chip on my device. My device has two of those 8-pin chips. I do not know which one should I short. Anybody can help? I got a tronsmart vega s89-H.

I tried on different microUSB cable does not work on any. How long do I have to keep closed pins and pressed the reset and power button? For me, the effect is that for the first 4 - 5 seconds the red LED, and then changes to blue. PC did not recognize the Vega.
TV shows that detected a 1080p signal but nothing is displayed.

Hi guys.
I bricked my S89 too. I'm trying to follow the guyde by rad & finless but I can't create the SD recovery.
I'm using the botcardmaker tool with the 352kb u-boot.bin. After formatting the tool says "success" but the SD Card is always empty.
I'm using Windows 8 X64. Is the tool incompatible with that OS? I cant get the USB-Burning tool to install either. Do I have to use a VM? What do you guys think?

Hi guys.

After you format and make the card it WILL be empty to Windows. What that tool does is write a boot sector to the beginning of the sdcard which is used by AMLogic boot process.

After you make the card, then copy over the other needed files (with windows) which you WILL see when they are copied over.

I guess I got a Problem with my windows drivers. When I try to install the USB_Burning_Tool_v2.0.0.140306_Alpha_x86 to my Windows 8 x64 I get the following error message at the end:

It basically says that it failed to install lib-usb32 WorldCcup_Device (01/18/2012 1.2.6.0)
After that I tried to start the usb burning tool but I always get this error message:

I always use "Run as an Administrator" to install the burning tool and to run it.
Windows recognizes that an M8-Chip is connected to the computer but it says that the driver is missing.
When I use the formated SD with both files and press the reset button and short the 2 pins and press the power button on the S89 I get the Windows "Connect" sound after 3-4 seconds.
Did somebody encounter something similar and is able to help me?
