I am noticing this on my 10 G2 with the 7G2 ROM with some of the changes I made now.

I always flash a ROM with the power plugged in. So I flash this, reboot again, and when I come back up, the battery icon doesnt have a question mark on it but it is showing as NOT charging e.g. that it think it is not plugged in. If I unplug power and plug it back in I get the lightnening bolt battery icon showing it is charging.

Do you guys get this if you unplug and plug back in or not?
Does anything change the icon? Or is it always a ?

Also one last thing I want you guys to try please.

Use ES file explorer. Go into /data/system
        delete the file batterystats.bin

Now power down and back up. See if unplugging and plugging in change the icon or if it stays a ?

Also when I say unplug and plug back in, I mean the AC power not the USB.

And finally here is a new ROM with a bunch of changes.

I had to deodex the orignal 7G2 and pull out services.jar, svc.jar, rockchip.service.jar
I also used the original system_server.so and servicemanager binary.

Guys if this doesnt fix it I am not sure how? Again I an shooting in the dark. There is something very different with the 7G2 kernel and thus some library file or something is also different. There is not much documentation out there on which libraries are used by the battery system. But I did find this:

          Android Services Black Magic:
          http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...AqcplgLjWWZKMQ

It shows the framework and services involved with the battyery and some of the lib files. So I used this to make guesses as to what files might be needed from the original 7G2 ROM, and I made a new ROM. I am not sure what this might break though. But it if makes the battery icon work we are getting somewhere.

OK rather than upload an entire ROM and make you guys download it. This is ONLY system.img.
So take my ROM kit and rename the system.img file in /image folder to system.old. Now unzip this and put it in the /image folder. Now reflash the entire ROM. Please erase IDB.

            Bob,

ok, going through this in stages so we know what's what. Did the libc.so & servicemanager files, no reboot this time, but no dice on the battery level. Just about to do batterystats.bin

Will then proceed to the reflash, got a nand backup now anyway.

            Let's see how we go.

I would love to help but I don't know how to reboot into recovery.. can anyone give some steps? also bob does this new rom include the file you gave for gta3 or do I still need to include it?

EDIT: damn I feel stupid. I didn't see there was a new app injector. I was still using the old one

                  Bob - update,

How did it go...not very well at all!

Went through the process but upon restart would not get past the initial Damo boot screen. Wouldn't get to the flashing eyes screen, just stayed stuck.

I've gone through each phase as indicated, libc.so, servicemanager, deleting batterystats.bin and the re-flash of the system.img....looks like us 7g2 users either have to put up with not knowing the battery or use the 1.4/1.5 ROM.

Thanks for all your effort on this. God knows why it is so different for this tablet...what the hell is the setup which is so different in measuring the battery discharge / charge?!?

Plus, just to confirm I did erase IDB before proceeding, had it plugged in at the wall and followed the instructions to the letter. Unfortunately after first running into CWM and then selecting reboot it then reboots but gets stuck.

Thought for the day...Bob, you wouldn't need to go into wipe the dalvik using CWM prior to rebooting, would you??

ok, so just to be sure when I do this again - in the rockchip tools you only select the system.img file & re-flash? Nothing else?

Just doing yet another backup before I go again, but would be good to know for sure.

                            cheers

                              Ok
I just tested this new update from Bob and here is feedback

The battery icon now works but when i download something it shows in the status bar the progress(as normal) but when i try to remove it from status bar by clicking the x it just reboot without reason

that`s the only thing i found so far

thank`s Bob for your hard work and keep on
