Completely up to you... who knows what Bob's got up his sleeves for his next rom! One thing I can say for sure though, 104k4 is giving me the most stable wifi connection I've had with this box.

I have given up trying to remove the search bar. I have done it many many times on JellyBean but this thing is INGRAINED in KitKat! I am not going to hold up 1.6 ROM for this any longer. Next time maybe.

              Head up!

The 104K4 Fw has been removed from the beelink site probably there is some problem with it. Rather hang in a little bit more - i'm sure they will post new version soon.

There has been a big commit to the Amlogic SDK and beelink is in the process to merge this into the FW for next version. Its supposed to fix & Improve many things.

                square m8....no sound HDMI

If you install from play store apk called soundabout you can redirect sound to HDMI and it works a treat

My 1.5 ROM. This is based on the S82/S89 102K4 ROM.

                  Need I say more?

                  ____________________________________

Features and release notes for my 1.5 ROM:

                  1) Properly rooted using SuperSU. What does properly mean?
Android 4.4.2 requires SU to be running as a daemon now. There are many ways to run this as a daemon.
Most roots so far are using a install-recovery.sh script or if init.d is enabled, a init.d script.
This means you could lose root if messing with these scripts which some rooted apps do!
What I have done is started the daemon in init.rc thus eliminating the need for boot scripts!
This took me a while to learn to do! Enjoy a BETTER ROOT!

                  2) Updated Google framework and Play Store core files. The ones in the stock ROM were out of date.
On first boot NOTHING will need to be updated once you logon to Google Play.
That is as of this date.
This may fix paid APP install issues but I do not know as I never have bought APPs and can't test.

                  3) Debloated of junk APPs and Google Apps you can get from Google Play.
There was quite a few useless hidden apps in this KitKat release! Some of them did not even work.
I did remove XBMC and other pre-install APPs as well. I like a CLEAN ROM that you the user can setup the way you want.
Having APPs in /system leaves that junk in there forever (unless you delete them by hand with a root explorer).
If you want the original XBMC APP then download it from Geekbuying.com

                  4) As always, full init.d support! If you do not know what that is... ignore it. For geeks that want to use it. It is there!
This time around due to updated security in 4.4, init.d was a lot harder to get working.
Again I had to figure it out!

                  5) Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say "not compatible".
I am spoofing a Samsung device (Nexus 10) that will show almost any APP as compatible.
This should also allow Netflix HD but I have not tested it.
Your device will show up in google play as Nexus 10 device not a Vega S89! Understand this please.
I also left the original build.prop in the ROM called build.orig.
If you want to go back, just use ES FIle Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop to build.old
                  Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot! You should be back to showing up as a Vega.

                  7) I added a reboot APP that will allow optional reboot options like reboot to recovery for easier updates.

                  8) Carrier spoofs for better APP compatibility.

                  9) The usual tweaks I do for better performance e.g. TCP buffers sizes, etc etc.

                  10) Added bonus! CPU fixer patches!
In this ZIP is a CPU_fixer folder. These zips can be used to adjust your minimum CPU frequency and Governor.
See the README.txt in that folder for an explanation and how to install them.

                  ________________________________________________

OK so here is the download!

READ the README.TXT in the zip for instructions!

                      Error while flashing

                      Hi Everyone,

I have a Tronsmart Vega S89 and I want to flash the Finless 1.5 ROM on it. However, when I try to do so I get an error message.

This is what I have done so far:

                      1. I have copied s82_s89_finless15.zip to a FAT32 micro SD card and inserted the SD card in the Tronsmart Vega S89.
                      2. I open the Update & Backup app, select /storage/external_storage/sdcard1/s82_89_finless15.zip, and select update
                      3. The Tronsmart reboots to flash the ROM
                      4. For a moment I see the "installing system update..." screen
                      5. But after 2 seconds I get the following error:

                      Finding update package ...
E: mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 on /sdcard failed (No such file or directory), now try read-only to mount again ...
E: read-only mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 on /sdcard failed (No such file or directory) !!!
E: failed to mount /sdcard (NO such file or directory)

It repeats this 3 more times after which it prints:

E: cannot mount /sdcard (NO such file or directory)
                      E: Can't mount /sdcard/s82_s89_finless15.zip
                      Installation aborted

So although the Tronsmart recognizes the SD card and the zip file in Android it appears that it isn't able to mount the SD card when it tries to flash the ROM. I get the same error when I select "apply update from EXT" and select the sdcard in the recovery menu

Do any of you guys know what I can do about this?

                      Kind regards.

Try to scan & fix the sdcard in windows. Also be sure to eject properly in windows. this could be a result of semi corrupted sdcard. Iven though all your data on the sdcard is ok the FAT32 fs sets a dirty flag that does not get cleared if your romve the sdcard without ejecting (unmount) it properly

BTW, try finless 1.6 rather - its better & NEWER!

It is a ZIP within a ZIP, you need to unzip it once, and then copy the resulting ZIP file to your memory card etc etc.

I agree with Lokie about skipping to finless 1.6 though

How do I navigate to external storage within XBMC?

I have installed the custom XBMC version available at GeekBuying (http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.php.../#.U4i9K_ldWSp) on top of the Finless 1.6 ROM. However, I seem unable to access my external storage devices within XBMC.

Does anyone know how I can do this? I tried going through the Root filesystem and then mnt. The only SD Card I see is the emulated one for the device's internal storage.

                            Thanks

Thank you for the response. I can access the SD card outside of XBMC but when I try to browse for it within XBMC to add a video source or set a default location for backup programs I can't locate it. However, interestingly enough I can plug in an external hard drive formatted in FAT32 and then browse my video files through the videos section of XBMC and successfully play a file. I just can't add it to my library to pull Internet metadata.

I formatted the SD card with FAT32 using the default Windows utility. I have successfully scanned and repaired the SD card upon inserting it into my PC for file transfer and safely ejected the card when finished.

Has anyone been able to successfully access external devices within XBMC using the Finless 1.6 ROM and updated XBMC version made available by GeekBuying?
