S89/S82 Finless 1.5 ROM

Works fantastically on square box except for audio...no audio at all..other than that well done it is very fast indeed and very cool (temperature not parlance) Before installing 1.5 I had acemax 12th May and 1.3 rom and everything worked fine.

I thought that this was a full rom and that i would brick the square box?
But you are saying that it works exept the audio?

Finless is there a easy way too fix the sound because it sounds like you got a great rom here and if it works i will install it on my squarebox.

Thank you for a great ROM! Now xbmc (13.1 latest nightly) is working almost perfectly, no unsynchronized audio any more. The ROM is very fast and clean.

I have one possibly stupid question. My S89 replaced my old Boxee that I used as a media player/NAS. I had a 1 Tb USB HDD connected to the player and transfered files from my computer to it over the network. How do I share this USB drive in android so that I can mount it in Windows and transfer files to it over the network?

About the missing audio in the earlier posts. Do you have the F10 pro air mouse? If so the app Soundabout can fix it by choosing HDMI as output for media in it.

I'll update the FAQ tomorrow with this as the new recommended ROM after I finish stress testing it tomorrow. So far so good, great job finless.

Would love to hear how Netflix works for you. Update us if you are getting HD after you test it.

Not there yet. Some videos still have a stutter. Probably using ancient SW decoding - but that is just a WAG. No Surround Sound. It would be interesting to see what the s89h does in this regard. Pitty Netflix are so slow to expand the HD capability on their Android app.

Google Play "No connection" solved

Hi Finless,

Thanks for this ROM, which solved my "No connection" issues with 101k4 ROM. Now everything works fine, even A/V sync with latest XBMC.

Can someone try and download bell tv app from playstore ... ever since I have had the s82 I can not get it to work on my decice I think it has to do with the kitkat os .. its a tv service in canada for live tv and I use it on all my devices except for this ..geez if this was fixed id be complete lol

My comparison of 1.4 and 1.5. Also heat sink improvement. Also those low Antutu scores.

I happen to have 2 s89 Standard16 gig and identical devices. Until this morning, I only used One of them, which I'll call device A.

Device A:
Replaced heatsink tape with Radio Shack Arctic Silver paste.
Flashed with Finless 1.4 rom.

It works flawlessly in every respect, except XCBM Gotham (13), which is dark and dreary looking and is just not ready for prime time yet as far as I'm concerned.
I am connected via Ethernet and have 50 Mbps download speed.
The only apps that gave me trouble, are those games which demanded that they be connected via WIFI. They justwould not work without it. This is annoying and is a result of defective thinking by the designers.
I solved that problem by going into setup and connecting WIFI, in addition to Ethernet.
The interesting discovery here was that my WIFI only connection which was 12 Mbps, now stayed at 50Mbps.
I get consistent Antutu scores between 31300 - 31500.
Temperature: 30degrees C - 86 degrees Farenheit


Device B:
Stock tape heatsink.
Flashed with Finless 1.5 rom.

Everything as above except. I did not replace heatsink tape.
I get consistent Antutu scores between 30096 - 31000.

Those of you who you who got Antutu scores below 23000, might be interested in how I solved this problem.
After lots of headscratching, fronwning, cursing and researching, I found the answer which solved my problem.
Hopefully it can solve yours as well.

When In got my second Vega s89 installed, I was anxious and downloaded Antutu.
Ran the test multiple times and got 20400.
Finally discovered that I downloaded Antutu X, not Antutu.

Which rom do I prefer?
I love 1.4, but they seem to be identical.
I believe 1.4 to be a liitle more responsive, but that could be because my air mouse pointer sensitivity is set higher.
Both roms feel great.
My device A (1.4) has about 150 apps installed.
DeviceB(1.5) has not yet got the workout and therefore not the experiance.



Wriiten on a 55" TV using Logitech K400r keyboard and separate air mouse, from 17 foot away.

I've tried to install the ROM with 3 solutions but any works. The error is : cant mount or something like that. Is it due to my card ?

Are you sure? Seems to me that 86 could be your battery temperature and they don't have a battery.
