I only just found this thread here after I repaired my unit.I didn't know it was such a common problem.It's very disappointing to read all the inconvenience caused by poor quality control and to be honest it's not fair.
I was lucky enough to be able to re solder it myself, but it took some effort to bring it back to life as there were more than just one bad pin.I could push the defective pins side to side with a small needle so I could see the ones that needed rework.I just hope it keeps on working now .I also soldered the anchor pins on the bottom of the board as they barely had any solder(it was quit obvious to see). I feel for all the people that have to send them back, what a mess.I wish you all well and hope you are made good in a timely manner. Someone needs a kick up the you know what

It wasn't just quality control as they sold the units for a year knowing about the flaw.
In any other country this would get you buns suied off and your company in really big trouble but they knew they could get away with it.

as for your issue , could you check the following :
1，try another charger cable (try another longer cable if possible )
2， try another HDMI cable (try another longer cable if possible) , may be the cables have a problem during the shipping
3,try to use this link to find the lastest firmware or ROM to flash it,you need a PC and a USB or otg data cable to do this ：

（The firmware may crash for some reason , Even if it doesn't start, try to put your device in flashing mode, Use a USB cable or OTG cable to connect it with a PC ）

i have the same problem, i have fix video output problem soldier HDMI pin.
Now video work very well, but i have problem with audio.
if i connect S89 hdmi to onkyo amplificator with KODI there is not audio, no sound.
if i connect S89 hdmi to TV with kodi there is audio, but every 1 minute there is shutter sound .


i try Finless 2.1 ROM and last stock rom 111K4.


It is hardware problem? same HDMI pin not soldier good?

Anything i can help? Is it possible for you to let me know the order number?
Have the problem be solved? If not, you can try to change the HDMI passthrough to SPDIF passthrough.

If so, any Geekbuying rep can please tell me if the stock in ES Warehouse are the "old" or the "new" batches? I want to buy one but i want to be sure i´ll have no problems with it.

Not really no.

They made some minor change but its still the worst soldering i have ever seen so its a crap shoot on if its going to be a good one or not.
Not to mention its basicly reaching it end of life where support is concerned.
