...so for some reason xpad.ko isn't there. Do you know what to do?
EDIT: The xpad.ko file exists and the init.d script is in place. When I try to insmod by hand, I get a "No such file or directory"
Permissions are the same as every other file in there : -rw-r--r--
Any ideas?
What Box do you have and what ROM are you using?
Bottom line whatever your using the xpad.ko is either already in your kernel or is not compatible with your kernel.

Wired ps3 works great with asphalt 8, buttons are messed up with retroarch emulator. Any help much appreciated
Not unless you can remap buttons in that emulator!
The .kl file is the .kl file and there is no multiples. It's read on boot and cannot be changed unless you edit it and reboot.

Ill try some other emulator for ps1, good thing about retroarch is it emulates everything, ps1, n64 , mame ect
drivers are loaded but sixaxis still gives seg fault is there some other ps3 tool to test with?
Use Tin Core key mapper!
It's better than sixaxis in my opinion.

Connection with USB on rooted device is reported as working.
Connection in BT mode is still not supported
I want it work with BT, PS3 Wired mode worked on stock Finless ROM 1.6 fine, doesnt even need this ZIP patch.
It's not my APP. I cannot fix something that is not support by the APP itself.

Woomg, so you know for the ENY M8 only joydev will insmod.
When you try to insmod xpad.ko or gameport.ko you get an error in the terminal of:
Directory not found.
Dmesg says this:
<4>[ 598.594141@0] xpad: Unknown symbol led_classdev_unregister (err 0)
<4>[ 598.594722@0] xpad: Unknown symbol led_classdev_register (err 0)
Usually when I see this it means it's already in the kernel?
Bob
Hwe...
Here is just morning in my time zone. So many messages posted after last check at last night.
Bob,
I think that dmesg message means another dependant module needed before xpad.ko.
Would you please give me a boot.img of ENY M8 box? Only DTD is not familiar for me. So I want to extract configuration from kernel image.
I'm compiled the xpad.ko following option.
- XBOX gamepad support
- XBOX gamepad rumble support
- LED support for Xbox360 controller 'BigX' LED
And, S89 kernel already contained the kernel module 'LEDS_CLASS' so xpad.ko with 'LED support' didn't have any problem to load and use. But I think ENY M8's kernel missed 'LEDS_CLASS' module.
Therefore, we need make a choice
1. compile the module for S89 and M8 separately.
2. compile the xpad module without 'LED support'.
And, 'joydev.ko' is not related for PS3 just ignore it afterward. That module is for other joystick.
And, following is result from other user in Korea.
==============================
Testing environment
S89 with
2 wired JoyTron pad(3rd party gamepad)
2 wireless JoyTron pad(3rd party gamepad)
- JoyTron pad provide 2 modes as like XBOX mode and PS3 mode.
Test with XBOX mode without third-party app
- just pluged and play for wired pads
- wireless pad need dongle
- S89 recognized 4 gamepads seperately
- MAME and Asphalt worked fine.
Test with PS3 mode without third-party app
- Can not use wireless controller
- Wired pads work, but even he connects the multiple pads, S89 only recognized one.
- keymap problem with Asphalt game.
==============================
Woo, which boot.img from which ROM did you pull for the ENY M8 for your investigation?
The latest ENY M8 ROM 6/16 (or my new 1.7 ENY M8 ROM), on that kernel the only thing that will insmod is joydev.ko.
But as you say I will ignore joydev.ko from now on.
For the ENY M8 I think if you can recompile for it without LED class, this would help people.
I will test it tonight and post a update.zip for ENY if it works.
Also Minix X8 appears to have the same issue so I bet the ENY recompile will work on the X8.

Bob,
I am worked with your 'em8_finless_rom17' rom image for extract kernel config.
Here are difference between S89 and M8 kernel.
- S89 kernel has builtin 'LED support' and have not 'gameport', 'xpad'.
- M8 kernel has builtin 'gameport' and have not 'LED support', 'xpad'.
So,
S89 needed
insmod gameport.ko
insmod xpad.ko ( which does contains 'BigX LED' support )
M8 needed
insmod xpad.ko ( which does not contains 'BigX LED' support )
Attached file is xpad.ko for ENY M8 box (maybe work ok for S89 also).
Regards,
PS] Amlogic release the new kernel source at 18 June, I will check the version and etc.
If I build the new boot.img with this source. Can you make signing for new boot.img? If I want to test new build of boot.img at my side, I have no idea to make flashable zip that must need signed.
Ah... one more small thing... 'Woo' is my last name, just call me as 'MG'.
