    New firmware!

I was wondering if anyone has tried the new firmware that was posted on geekbuying and if so what fixes or the like it brings to the table. Cheers.

Is there any hdmi settings within this rom that might cause the problems with my amp passing the video through as below?

    Great Firmware, but....

    Hi Bob,

just installed your firmware and is just THE BEST.

the problem I have is not genarated by your firmware as I have it also with the stock one but I was not able to fin any possible solution around or someone that has my same issue (maybe is an hardare fault).

basically every app that uses the internal android player, plays the video with strage and annoying "morse code" od "braille" pattern overlay.
(for this test I used the official app of an italian talkshow the app is called "Servizio Pubblico" if you want to try it is avalilable also for non italian markets, you have just to play on the first video thumbnail you see, no need to browse an italian captioned app ;-))))

the other funny thing is that if I take a snapshot via the box this pattern are not present in the snapshot even is they are on the screen!!! (see pictures)

if there is no solution I'll just return the device to the amazon seller and will go back to a Rockchip based box :-(

Thanks in advance and again for one of the fastest firmware ever!

    Sergio

I have had my M8 for about 2-3 months now. Using the stock ROM & 13.1 I was getting freezing at random points. I updated to 13.2 and it was freezing every few mins, however once I flashed to Finless 1.8 with 13.2 I have had no freezing at all.

The only issue I have is when I watch a movie I get interlaced pics now and again and quick forward resolves this.

    Hopes 1.9 fixes this......

    XBMC 13.2

So question that I believe I know the answer to just looking for confirmation. Using Finless 1.8 on square box which is working fine but XBMC 13.1 is a little buggy. Arbitrarily crashes every once in a while. Might be something else but have seen others saying upgrade to 13.2 runs smoother. So grabbed the 13.2 update but of course fails attempting to update because of a signature issue. I know I can wipe 13.1 and install, but it seems 13.1 has been modified, I'm assuming tweaked, for the rom. Any good reasons why I should or shouldn't install 13.2.....?

You would need it, if you want to setup the xbmc in the same way you get it at the U-M8 rom:
    1. load it like a normal addon:
-> system -> addons -> install from zip file
    2. once the addon is installed it will be under programs
    3. power OFF after pressing OK (do not exit any further after pressing OK)
    4. after power ON you will have the standard xbmc menu with the droidstick addons
    5. for the custom droidsticks menu goto change skin settings and select aeon nox

My 1.7 ROM is still here and you can download it and flash it if you need to go back.
Backing up a AML ROM requires knowing a little linux and using ADB.

    Hey Guys,

Sorry if this post is in the wrong thread.

    I have an M8 S802 Square box.

    Bought from:
    http://www.****.co.uk/itm/M8-Android...item2c8585205a

I currently have Finless 1.7 on my device (pre-installed by seller - guessing he flashed it)

I want to backup the rom/firmware on my device before flashing 1.8.
As I'm a noob and really don't want to brick it.

Can you guys direct to some instructions on how to backup the rom/firmware, so that I can begin flashing Finless 1.8.

    Thanks in advance.

BTW. Thanks for all your hard work Finless!
