hi everyone! i have a quick question regarding hdmi compatibility and these custom ROMs. so the trouble I have is that I just received my EM8 Tomato device and plugged it to my sanyo plv-z2 projector (through hdmi->dvi cable), but there is no signal received. now i cross-checked with my friend's hdmi tv and everything works perfectly. i installed airdroid to test out all possible hdmi resolutions and frequencies on my pj (720p 60hz should be optimal) but to no avail - apparently this projector is a bit picky on hdmi compatibility - yet it did work perfectly with my friend's tronsmart s89.

now, i still haven't touched the stock rom that came with it, and my question is - have these custom ROMs addressed any hdmi compatibility issues or touched that interface at all? as in, is there any point in trying to address this problem by installing e.g. this latest finless ROM?

thanks for any help and thank you for your efforts in making these boxes shine.

Firstly may i say hi to all on this board. Been a long time lurker and its great the amount of knowledge here.

My issue, i installed the finless 1.8 as above to my tomato (i presume the ott 4k box from amazon) m8 box and it seems good just what i need but........

    Ive got no audio.

Ive tweaked the settings and nothing, xbmc nothing there too. Im not a tech wizz, but most on here are very knowledgable so hopefully a solution can be found otherwise i'll have to restore which would be a shame.

@klaas - What version of XBMC are you running?

I have experienced freezing as well...beginning to wonder if it is from adding and removing a large number of files...specifically apps (games) that either are not completely removed, or if too many services (widgets, etc) are starting or continuing to run in the background???

After a fresh install, things are very smooth. After a few days, the responsiveness becomes so slowed that a keystroke can take approx 10 sec. Basically, unusable.

So far, I have tried to control this issue by rebooting often and installing file cleaner/memory booster apps. I do notice that the about of ram being used isn't extremely high, but I also have no clue what level is suggested for smooth performance. Just guessing around the 200-500 mb range. Of the 2 gig ram, it is common after a few days of use to see nearly half of the memory being used.
    Thanks

    Finless 1.8 on M8 Box

    * Update. Clean install. Issue solved.

    freezes

I installed this rom. But i have now a lot of freezes in xbmc. Also in other sittuations The box hangs for 20 sec. Is there something wrong with cpu is there a way to find out a solution to make it more stable? I had freezes before thats why i installed this rom. But it seems to make it worse for now.

Had to fix NEW bugs they put in this new ROM.

This is made from the latest Acemax 7/22 ROM that just came out.

I have done things to this ROM that is not in any other ROMs I have made so far for any S802 box, so your getting my best right now.

If you like this ROM and the work I put into it, consider a donation please.
Not to beg but again lots of work for you ENY M8 users.

    ________________________________________________

Features and release notes for my 1.8 ROM:

    1) Properly rooted using SuperSU. What does properly mean?
Android 4.4.2 requires SU to be running as a daemon now. There are many ways to run this as a daemon.
Most roots so far are using a install-recovery.sh script or if init.d is enabled, a init.d script.
This means you could lose root if messing with these scripts which some rooted apps do!
What I have done is started the daemon in init.rc thus eliminating the need for boot scripts!
This took me a while to learn to do! Enjoy a BETTER ROOT!

    2) Updated Google framework and Play Store core files. The ones in the stock ROM were out of date.
On first boot NOTHING will need to be updated once you logon to Google Play.
That is as of this date.

    3) Debloated of junk APPs and Google Apps you can get from Google Play.
There was quite a few useless hidden apps in this KitKat release! Some of them did not even work.
I like a CLEAN ROM that you the user can setup the way you want.
Having APPs in /system leaves that junk in there forever (unless you delete them by hand with a root explorer).

    4) As always, full init.d support! If you do not know what that is... ignore it. For geeks that want to use it. It is there!

    5) I fixed the AOSP Launcher for several things:
Removed the google search bar by request.
Added more than one screen for scrolling.
Updated the dock icons to things more useful.
Apps installed with Google Play will automatically be added to the home screen.
I think you will like this launcher better

    6) Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say "not compatible".
I am spoofing a Samsung device (Nexus 10) that will show almost any APP as compatible.
This should also allow Netflix HD but I have not tested it.
Your device will show up in google play as Nexus 10 device not a M8! Understand this please.
I also left the original build.prop in the ROM called build.orig.
If you want to go back, just use ES FIle Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop to build.old
    Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot! You should be back to showing up as a M8.

    7) Fixed a new recovery issue! What they did this time was pretty stupid if you ask me.
They modified recovery to install XBMC from a TAR file located in /system/
What this causes is anytime you use recovery to install a patch (like my CPU patcher) it re-installs XBMC.
Why they did this is beyond me! Just stick with the preinstall script since it works!
So I reverted back to that. Anything in /system/preinstall will get installed on first boot and ONLY first boot.
If you do a factory reset, it will get re-installed again.
Right now the modified XBMC from the 7/22 ROM is in that.
If you don't want this XBMC to be installed after a factory reset, simply delete anything in /system/preinstall.

    8) Xbox and PS3 KO modules are now installed on boot.
This should make wired PS3 and Xbox controllers work.
I do not have one and cannot test so let me know.
BT controllers still don't work due to AML drivers.

    9) 1080 24hz support!!!! Yep, it's there now in display settings!
Basically the setting 1080i 50hz was replaced with 1080P 24hz.
Special thanks to Hardware GURU for coming up with this on the Neo X8.
He told me what he did and then I implemented in the M8 ROM.

    10) Added bonus! CPU fixer patches!
In this ZIP is a CPU_fixer folder. These zips can be used to adjust your minimum CPU frequency and Governor. See the README.txt in that folder for an explanation and how to install them.

    11) 720P patcher! This is for people with 720P only TVs. If you have a 1080P TV I suggest you not use this.
The stock ROM desktop is locked to 1080 resolution even if you set to 720P.
Yes the output to the TV is 720P but the desktop resolution is locked to 1080.
This throws off some media player APPs because they think you are in 1920x1080 mode and your not.
Videos then play weird with a small box skewed over. This is noticeable in XBMC.
SEE THE README in the patch folder for more information! A TON more information about this and how to install.
Also in that folder I give you CPU fixer patches that work with the 720P patch.
DO NOT interchange CPU fixer patches between 1080 and the 720P patch!!! You have been warned.

    12) Boot logo AML badge now displays 1080 or 720 depending on what resolution you are booting in.
This is helpful to know exactly what mode you are switched to.

    13) I added a reboot APP that will allow optional reboot options like reboot to recovery for easier updates.

    14) Carrier spoofs for better APP compatibility.

    15) The usual tweaks I do for better performance e.g. TCP buffers sizes, etc etc.

    16) Did some "theme'ing". Hope you like it!

Two devices with same Finless Model Number "name" need to have a different name for streaming.

Hi. I am having a specific issue that is not ROM oriented (sort of). I have two boxes on my network both with Finless. The issue is because they are both "spoofed" as Nexux 10 it seems that I have the same device twice with streaming services like Hulu and Netflix so I cannot stream from both devices at the same time even if one box is not actually streaming anything it is still on and listed so the second device cannot stream at all. Is there a way to change one of the devices "Model Number"? This way they are separate devices and I can stream from both or at least one but anyone of which is not actually streaming at the time. Thank you for any help.

EDIT: OK, I think I did it (PLEASE PLEASE). In ES File Manager I changed the build.prop (also made a copy of the old just in case)in one of the Android boxes to "ro.product.model=Galaxy Note 12.2" and "ro.product.manufacturer=samsung" I figured using Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 might signal a larger screen, well Im hoping So far both boxes can run Netflix at the same time on my one account, I believe its because it is seeing two separate boxes and not one box trying to stream at the same time and getting confused. I think Netflix was thinking "Wait you are already streaming". I cannot/dont know how, to find the log to see what may actually be happening but for now all is working. I will check tomorrow if this is still the case. I hope so. If anyone has any ideas about this please chime in, I still would like to know what is happening, if I am on the right track or not. Thanks.

I noticed this on the August firmware received from supplier.

I went about it by first installing Finless 1.7 with clear cache and data from recovery menu.
Installed everything on xbmc. Checked that it was working fine.

Updated to Finless 1.8 without the wipe.

I am not seeing it and I'm the kind of person these things make me

Hope it is a solution or pure luck

Thats not related to Hardware ,Media ,XBMC version or resolution

its all about the latest sources they've used in the Latest FW...

Checked the same Media in same/different box with many versions of the XBMC result is always same...older FWs hasn't got this issue at all...

    try this

    Go to IceFilms Addon
    Select OTHER from the list
    Select POPULAR
    Select the video called;
The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2013 HD
    Source 4[MR]HD Full
