NEW - Finless 1.8 for EM8 Square Box

Okay, happens on certain media files? I'm trying to compare notes here..pointing towards a hardware (HDMI or HDTV issue) or maybe the media file itself. I haven't seen this, but I would like to know the cause. How have you tested this so far?

Are you set at 1080i on m8 preferences? I had the same when using 1080i on my 720p tv. Maybe some artifact caused by downscaling/upscaling.

@ handroid - I will test this for you...I've been wondering how 13.2 and the new Helix beta will perform.

I tried to upgrade the XBMC 13.1 Finless included in this rom to Gotham 13.2. Just installing was not possible due to a conflict. I uninstalled 13.1 and installed 13.2. That brought back some of the old problems with video like black screen and such.

Looks like the XBMC 13.1 provided is a patched version. Has anyone found a 13.2 that works?

I don't see how people can tolerate the interlacing issues on 1.8. I guess some can't see it or don't mind

@messi1986 , I can confirm that it does play .rm files. I downloaded a few test samples from net and tested. I'm on finless 1.8 on my M8 tomato. It played the video clips just fine with no sync issues or video problems on MX-player. I did have trouble getting it to play on XBMC, but that could be from some of my settings like HW acceleration in Xbmc

I have running 4 XBMC's mediacenters at my home. PC, Ipad and Galaxy I9505 are loading movie's very fast. Only on my M8 square box it takes a long time before the sources are loading and after selecting again a long time to start the movie. I have a fiber connection speed of 50MB. Using Omans XBMC and advancedsettings.xml and of course Finless 1.8. Any advise how to optimize my configuration? Thanks a lot.

My take: It's all about better hardware and the corresponding price. On the other hand my M8 performs quite well with Finless 1.8 using the stock XBMC and no advanced settings.

Thanks I allready have root and running 1.7 rom as it was allready set up that way when I purchased it. I managed to back everthing up onto a sd card. Only thing im unsure about now is the advanced xml settings after I have installed the 1.8 rom.
