This takes me to an earlier point I made...can we establish a script a la app2sd / zdbox which notifies when an app is installed to the external sd? Surely there has to be a way for this to be monitored & applied using something like smanager?

I have just installed multiple suspect apps. Before reboot, I went into apps settings and moved them all to internal, then rebooted. They all stayed put this time.

Looks like that can remedy the problem until an actual cure is discovered. (Back to medical talk again)

When you install one these apps that automatically loads to sd card there is no icon for it in the apps settings, just a funky looking sd icon. Those are the ones you need to move back before a reboot. It is an extra step after installing to go in and look, but it works.

This method is fool proof at the moment, and from the reading i've been doing around appears the only way. It would just be good if there was a script which identified any apps that had been moved to the external sd automatically. The example i've given previously is zdbox or app2sd - which identifies which app can be moved to the sd card. If there was a way a notification could popup if an app had been moved then at least it would get around the need for manual checks after every install. I've not even checked yet if the install path changes when updates occur. I'm pretty sure it won't, but you never know!

PS - Bob. Snakekiller - couldn't the rom link I provided in an earlier post give some insight? In that build of 4.04 they have solved this exact problem. It is AOSP. Whilst I know its for a phone could the android tools not provide you a way to examine the code & see if anything's there which could point us in a direction. Just my 2p before I go & crash.

I went in and unchecked auto update on those apps to help me supervise that process, for now.

i talked with a guy on my work ,he's a real linux man.
he said you must extract your boot.img.
than you have inside a ramdisk.img you must take the init.rc from the ramdisk and replace or merge it with init.rc from your boot.img.
buth there's no ramdisk in there.
the reason for replacing or merge it is when you restart your tablet then init.rc from the boot.img rewrite himself over the existing init.rc on the tablet.
and always empty your mnt/asec folder and secure on reboot.

the other fix is create a rc file on system/bin to told init.rc not rewrite himself on reboot

                  do you get it.
my knowledge is very little in linux.
maybe you know how to do it

That is the way other ROMs work like allwinner and amlogic..
Rockchip does not work this way.. There is no ramdisk in boot.img. boot.img is everything including whats normally in the ramdisk like on other ROMs.
Init.rc from boot.img always is used. There is no rewriting it. It has always been this way and works on every other ROM out there without over writing mnt/asec. So I do not believe that is the issue. ICS 403 does not have this problem and it's the same boot.img.

Ok, this is a little off topic (sorry about that!), but it looks like i'm deserting the cause! lol

Got hold of a 64gb Playbook yesterday & am extremely impressed with it! If you're uk based check out the prices of these things at the moment - plus they do run android apps well (been playing most of the night, which is why i'm knackered!)

I saw that - £129 for the 64Gb one is an awesome price (about $200 for the US folks)
I've just got myself an HTC Desire from ****, just flashed CM7 on that and I really like it! Just going to try partitioning the SD card into FAT32/EXT3 to extend the memory...

Sorry, more off topic! I'll stop now!

That's the baby! Whilst you can't root it now with the latest os update sideloading is dead easy as is converting android apps to run! I'll admit i've fallen in love with it!

Not to teach you to suck eggs but minitool partition is the best tool i've found for doing that with an SD. Works brill with my galaxy & link2sd with a Fat32/Ext2 combo

Ok. I'll shut up now before getting warned due to off topic!
