I dont know, never see that kind of App..

But I believe it can be read some ID info from the TV's EDID via DDC bus..
Easy way to catch LOG -> Search 'Syslog' in Google Play, then install it and catch log

Something has changed on this latest firmware ver. 108k4. After about 10 minutes the video playback becomes very jerky. Last night, I was watching a movie in SD using XBMC and this happened. Tonight I was watching the football game being streamed in h264 format, after a few minutes the video playback started to became jerky again.. I checked the information, and the frame skipping was horrible. I did not have this problem on ver. 107k4.

        Any one else notice this?

Can confirm on my setup no audio on HDMI. Spidif works but audio level a bit on the low side (could probably fix that in XBMC). Passthrough improves sound but only 2 CH output. When selecting pass through the video would jump every +- one second.

I just installed Koying's SPMC (been awhile since I last used it) and it is working great on this R89 box. I have an older generation HDHomerun ATSC networked tuner that streams mpeg2 format. None of my Android boxes, including my Vega S89H, could decode the HD streams without a lot of dropped frames. This box (R89) running Koying's SPMC runs the mpeg2 TS stream without any dropped or skipped frames.

              XBMC

which XBMC version is tested as OK (also nearly OK ), because the "stock" XBMC stutters, green square, freezes and so on at many of my tests (also untouched BluRay.ISO and I don't talk about H265 and 4k).
MX and Stock player no problem... but I like audio normalisation

e.g. Catadarius talk about "update solve the stuter that i have in all movies" , but not about which version

ok, clarkss12 talk about SPMC...but also "Something has changed on this latest firmware ver. 108k4. After about 10 minutes the video playback becomes very jerky" ?

With the 108k4 firmware that was the case for me, jerky video. But the last update from Oman corrected that problem. I have always been using the latest Kodi nightly, and it worked very well. SPMC works better for me while streaming live TV.

Im running the box wit spmc too and i noticed some little hickup every 10-15 mins in streaming of 1080p stuff from yifty hd.

Maybe something to look after as my "old" kr42 runes fine at with the same vids/hosts.

Did you playback both 1080i and 720p mpeg2 streams? Mainly concerned with 1080i deinterlacing issues which has shown to be a problem on other SOC's. I have cablecard tuners with a mixture of 1080i and 720p mpeg2 streams. I hope to stream with serverWMC/pvr.wmc via WMC/XBMC onto a tv box. Bring up the EPG has also shown to be an issue (super slow) with Android. I would very much appreciate any info.

Not sure you have seen any of my videos on YouTube yet, but I have shown how these boxes work for me. This Beelink R89 box streams both 1080i and 720P without dropping or skipping frames. Actually, the 1080i streams work better than the 720P streams. I do use Ethernet for all my devices. You should not have any problems at all with the RK3288 boxes. But, yes, streaming live HD TV is really tough for anything except for devices dedicated for that purpose. Even my desktop computer struggles with those 720P streams.

On a side note, today I received my Google developer box (ADT-1) and have been testing it with streaming TV. This R89 works just as good. I also posted a video on YouTube showing live TV streaming with that box.

If you would like, I can add the link for that video here.

                      Here is the link.

                        Beelink R89

Thanks for the info! The Beelink R89 really shines on playback, just what I was hoping for. EPG delay could still be an deal breaker with my 107 channel setup. I think they are looking into at XBMC. Windows/Linux XBMC brings it right up.

                        Google

Live TV inside Android TV looks like an afterthought, not interested. The XBMC you loaded doesn't look too bad on Google's Tegra 4 box, mpeg2 is probably done by the cpu on this box. I wonder how much they are going to lock down Android TV in retail devices?

Certainly isnt an after thought on Googles approach to Android T.V in fact its a primary, also the fact there will be a number of chipsets being used from Intel,Nvdia,Qualcomm,Marvell,Mediatek and more shows that Google have a very long term plan this time around and let me just say i love there implementation of Android T.V its simplicity and ease of use is refreshing.
As for the R89 it really is a great streamer and should be perfect for most peoples current needs and wants..with a little more updating to do.

Have you done some adjustments like these?

I made some setting adjustments to xbmc that gave me considerable results.
                              The setting adjustments were
                              Settings/ video/ Playback/
                              - adjust display refresh rate to match video/ always
                              - Syn playback to display On/
-a/v syn method to Video clock (resample audo).
