...And ok Randy, we are waiting for your feedback !
"Freezing apps" -- disabling them... non-system apps can be disabled from the application manager (menu/settings -> apps), system-apps can be disabled/freezed from several tools... most commonly used by me -- Titanium Backup...
Or you could just do ADB and pm disable <package name> with usb debugging enabled...
With disabled/freezed apps you cannot use them and they disappear from the application menu (still visible in app manager/Titanium backup so you can always re-enable them)

Greenify on the other hand is a little bit different approach. It still lets you use the applications but after that if an app is changing from foreground to background it gets hibernated. With advanced features enabled (donation package required) Greenify allows you to hibernate apps and supports push/wakelocks so even hibernated apps will still wake up when they receive a notification (e.g. Whatsupp message, SMS etc.).

Hope this clears things a little bit. But still - I believe that even freezing/disabling apps won't prevent the battery drainage when the Tablet is fully off -- might be a hardware problem (similar one Similar one I have faced with e.g. Chuwi V17HD) - or - baterry monitoring is sometimes a little bit inaccurate when doing restarts/ shutdowns/startups... It depends on the current voltage of the battery to figure out current battery level... Might be a good idea to install Battery Monitor Widget -- one of the best tools to monitor and check the actual usage of the battery.

Battery calibration would not hurt either. Hope I helped

I just turned mine back on...after being shelved for about a week. I've been testing other tablets off and on, so the P1 was neglected....hahaha!!!

It came up at 100% just like it was when I turned it off.

It sounds to me like your tablets aren't doing a complete shutdown. Are you using the reboot app?....or the stock shutdown with the power button?

Really thanks for the exhaustive explanation PrEzi ! This is very useful to me because i've a lot to learn about ! I'm non rooted at the moment, but as soon i install RileyRom i try Titanium Backup for sure... I've previously used Greenify in another non rooted device, and i think is not so useful (it seems to me that it is slowing down the device when is used) . We'll see in the next future if i'll be able to solve at least the problem with the tablet turned off, because it's a real nonsense and is unacceptable

I used the file manager in TWRP to do this after mounting the system partition. I've been running a couple of days since then and haven't had any instability. Overnight battery drain is much flatter, in fact last night it started at 80% and was still 80% in morning:<br />

Hi Randy,
I'm using the "normal" shutdown method, pressing the power button at the side of the device. I was not aware, before now, of the reboot app... i imagine that you refer to the "Reboot app by Petrus" that you mentioned in the first post, that's included in your rom, but i've not yet installed your Rom, in part because I haven't had time, and partly because I still want to collect some information using the tablet with stock firmware ... Because i really wish that with your Rom the battery and other problems go away, but i want to know what part of the problems that i've encountered are possibly given to internal problems, faulty hardware or things like that... wanting to know if i have problems not solvable by software modification.
But at the moment, due to my poor ability in the Android world, i need much of your help and i thank you one more time.

You think that with the reboot app i may be able to solve the problem? How it works ?

And also... you think that i've to try directly to flash your rom, leaving apart the trials with the battery that i'm doing now (basically, i'm let it discharge in various mode, wi-fi on/off, airplane mode on/off, and enabling/disabling some standard settings in the menu before put the tablet in standby/turn it off...) ?
If you say that these trials are useless I'll stop them, and proceed in another way...

Which version of the stock firmware are you running? You might benefit from this newer version on performance and battery consumption, anyway.

The reboot app requires root to run. Its handy for rebooting to flash mode and recovery.

You said "pressing the power button" but there's a short press for screen off or holding a couple of seconds for shutdown menu to pop up......... Just checking 😉

Hi Randy,
you have "touched" the point... There's a question that I wanted to make some time ago ... In one of my first post on the forum a few days ago, I mentioned that I could have a "special" version of the stock firmware, and here's why: The version of my firmware is dated 09/06/2014, so it should be the last exit, like the one you've been using for your last RileyRom, BUT on the net I found the screenshot of a user that shows the firmware with the same date 09/06/2014 BUT with a different series of numbers at the end, before the word test-keys (and Also i do not know what these words means on the Build Number ).

To clarify, here are the two screenshots: the first is mine, with numbers Underlined in Yellow, and the second is that i found on the net (Underlined in Red):

Thanks Billcnz,
as i said i'm a novice in Android, and you'we well thinked that i can make a big error, like press the button only for standby, but it's not the case .
I always hold the key until the shutdown menu, and selected the power off option, and also i've always checked twice (or thrice ) that the pad is turned off correctly... so,unfortunately, the problem is real.

Again, another opportunity to thank all the users, who show "compassionate" and willing to help novice users like me !

Occasionally, developers will make several attempts in the same day to work out little problems. Some get distributed...others don't. I only have a few sources for these early releases, so the version I got very well could have been an earlier test version.

If you believe you in fact have a newer firmware...which the numbering sequence shows from your screen shot...I would love to have a dump of this ROM before you erase it by flashing a custom ROM over it.

There is a ROM Dumper tool in my ROM kit with a great set of instructions by Finless.

I need these files:

Parameter
Boot.img
Kernel.img
Recovery.img
Misc.img
Resource.img
System.img
Backup.img

I don't need your userdata.img.

Ok Randy,
i've seen the Rom Dumper in your RomKit, and also the instructions... I've to translate into italian and read them very carefully, starting from tomorrow (here in Italy are 3:00 am passed, as always).
Maybe this take some time (days anyway, not months ) compatibly with my work and family, but i promise you a good work and i'm happy to contribute to the community !

First questions:

1 - I've seen in the instructions that there are other parts/files that can be dumped, they are:

Loader.bin
cache.img
kpanic.img
metadata.img
userdata.img
user.img

and you confirm that you want only that you have mentioned, and these aren't useful for the purpose ?

2- I had previously informed about the possibility of doing a dump of the rom, to have an image of my stock rom just in case i need it in the future, and with these files/parts that i dump, you confirm for me that you will obtain for me a flashable "stock rom" ?

I'll read your response tomorrow, because i believe that i go to sleep, it's very late here ... I'll be present as much as possible on the forum ... despite the time zone that makes it difficult for me to be present at all times of the day, compatibly with my work here.

When i start "studying" the instructions, if i need help i'll post to you my questions! Good Night to everyone!

I'm pretty sure they used the same loader.bin in your version. This dump method doesn't provide a way to dump the loader.bin, anyway.

The other partitions are generated by the system...so their contents aren't useful.

The userdata.img is where your personal data and apps are located...so I don't recommend ever sharing that. But you may want to make a backup for yourself. The file will be 2gb.

With the files I mentioned above...you will have all files required to flash the stock ROM back to your tablet with the addition of the loader.bin from my ROM. Just use the same flash tool from the RileyROM kit.

I've encountered the first problems and some glitches with my stock rom on the P1...

First, at completely random times, when i'm watching a video, browsing, or gaming, this message pop up on the screen (the process com.android.systemui has stopped)

i tap "ok", then it took me to the lock screen and after unlock, it took me again at the app i'm using at the moment the message popped out.

Second, with the Chrome browser i've installed... almost every time i tap the screen for an internet link, a new tab, or refreshing a page, all around the screen there's a red frame flashing for a while (here's a screenshot that i was able to catch in the moment it flashes)

this could be a problem of the Chrome app (but i've never experienced it in other devices) and not seems negatively affecting the browsing experience, or slow it.... but is simply annoying and esthetically unpleasant !

So, if i have some positive feedback for the presence of the phone apps in the last firmware update, i can proceed flashing the rom for my first time , sure that Riley's work will be much better than the original Pipo rom !
I thank everyone can help me in advance, and remain in hopeful waiting
Any fix for this pls. I'm throwing out the window this tablet

To make the red frame go away, add these lines to build.prop:

persist.sys.strictmode.visual=0
persist.sys.strictmode.disable=1
