How to install a new ROM

Hey I have looked all over and I see that there are a couple of ROMs for this device mk903v. The Stock ROM and a custom ROM. I noticed many people talk about how they tried the different ROMs. But other then on how to root this unit. No one mentions on how they are installing a new ROM. Can someone point me in the right direction. Is there a ROM install tool for this device. If so does someone have a link.
Or is the process to rename the img file to update.img and place it on the sdcard?

        Thanks,

          Thanks,
I found the rockchip batch tool v1.5 and v1.7 Tried both tools. I got the drivers installed and both tools see the connected device in slot 1 (green) when I select the img file either of the two I have downloaded and then select upgrade it fails during the test device stage after a few seconds of flashing green. it goes red. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a recovery rom for this like TWRP?

the two roms I tried are:

          and

I already had rockchip batch tool v1.5 but here is the one for v1.7

          Thanks

This usually happens when there is a problem with the flash. After trying the flash, have you been able to boot it up with the default ROM? I haven't tried the Custom ROM on it, but the stock device works pretty well, if you know how to set it up (ez root, supersu, busybox, uninstall apps, etc).

I assume you are still working on it and didn't just update here and stop. How did it go?

Yes it was able to boot. I thought of attempting to boot into recovery. At this point I found that it wasn't rooted. So I just added the update.zip finless had to root the device.
              That worked fine.
Now since I verified that it is rooted, I will try the process again using the batch tool kit v1.7.
Do you have a recommended ROM for this device?
Is there a ROM that will work with the recovery. A ROM in .zip format instead of .img?
              Thanks in Advance

The stock ROM it came with keeps rebooting when I try to watch any video using any app.
I contacted Geekbuying who I purchased this from and they gave me the new ROM I posted earlier from Geekbuying. They wanted me to try that.

So thats the one I was going to install unless, unless someone has a better one.

                Thanks for helping

So After I rooted the device. Using the RKBatchTool v1.7 and either of the two ROM's I provided earlier still fails on testing the device "Test Device Fail"

Does anyone know of a .zip ROM to be used with the recovery Manager, or how to convert a .img ROM to a .zip ROM to be used with the recovery Manager. I don't think it's as simple as zipping the .img into a zip, but if it is I'll try it.

                  Thanks

This is the latest from Bosuntop. http://pan.baidu.com/wap/share/home?...629114&third=0

The test device fail may be hardware related. Have you tried using the other micro usb port to make sure that isn't the problem?

I did notice that with SPMC 13.4 and possibly with Kodi or XBMC, whenever I use the stock remote and click too quickly using the d-pad in the middle, it crashes every time. I use my Mele remote the same way and it doesn't happen. *Update, it was USB power related, not firmware.*

I was using the k400 keyboard with my device. The device would reboot anytime I attempted to play any video or start Kodi.

I noticed that one to, uploaded about a week ago. I figured it may be a update version of the spiro z fw you tried a couple of months ago. Let us know if you try bother to try it. And if you do,please see if Netflix runs.

I updated to the latest firmware listed above. Netflix works. I did not update it to the latest version to see if that persists, but once I extract the apk for this one, I will check on it. Just wanted to update the thread.

Update: still works after update. Randomly rebooting now, though. I think it may be a root issue. I will unroot it and see. First, need to uninstall some junk. Besides reboot by petrus, and SetCPU, I can't think of too many reasons to keep it rooted after debloating. I hope that isn't the cause of the reboots.

Update 2; May be that it was running hot. Power is off to cool down.

Final update; I tested it and can say most probably it was rebooting because it was overheating. SetCPU down to 1.4 ghz and cooled off and no problems. Still had to use updated Launcher3 and 240 lcd.density. It is a real updated firmware, not an offshoot. Maybe the next one will be 5.0.
