    One word...... logcat

Pull a logcat but keep it clean so we don't have to pour through tons of info.

    1) Install Android terminal emulator
    2) Run it and type su agree to superuser prompt.
    3) Type logcat -c (this clears the log of junk)
    4) Do your XBMC thing and let it crash
    5) type logcat > /sdcard/logcat.txt

The logcat file will be on your internal sdcard.

Post up the logcat and maybe we can see why it crashes.

OK so this is what happens when you replace a lib file that uses other libs that were not compiled either on the same SDK level or same sources.

libmedia is crashing when it calls these libs:
        libc.so
        libcutils.so
        libstagefright.so

So what you might try is to pull those other lib files from the ROM this libmedia.so came from. BUT this chain is probably longer and thus other libs or files in /bin may not be compatible as you keep modifying the chain.

What might be best is to get the guy that compiled the modded libmedia.so to make this mod to the current 3288 4.4.2 SDK sources. Maybe disclose this mod to Oman. I recall this mod way back on 3066 and 3188 and I forget who originally did it but I do recall he disclosed the source code to this mod.

Thanks for the rundown on whats happening Bob

Yes it could be neverending chasing required files.

The guy in question, was it stafstrom?

I know he did work on the libmedia.so on rk3188.

You wrote that you get this patched lib from wasser?
I know that lewy20041 also use the patched lib at his justXBMC...
BUT I don't know if they know the patch or only uses the patched lib...

hmmm, but stafstrom seems to patch it at binary level, but maybe this information gives oman an idea how to handle it:

The current status is that my Yamaha Rx V375 is ok for xbmc passthrough..

                  Should find the difference.

Are you getting passthrough of Dolby Digital HD, DTS HD and AAC 5.1 with smooth video?

Probably a dead end since the posting count on the xbmc forum indicates that poster "stafstrom" only posted 1 post on that forum. Not sure if he is still active on other forums or under a different handle.

You are correct, although his pseudonym does not appear here as a poster his name does come up frequently in the minix discussions. If you are part of the minix forum can you maybe point him over here or forward him our findings? Since his mod clearly showed that there is a potential solution and he is apparently still active, I am beginning to 'smell' the final solution

Just got another beelink box delivered yesterday. Ive not changed anything on the unit just booted straight into the supplied version of kodi.

I turned libstagefright off and mediacodec on as I do on the other box with the hacked version of libmedia.so.

The new box crashes exactly the same as the one with hacked libmedia.so.

So turned libmedia on with the box with hacked libmedia.so and everything works, no crashes.

Do you see the same libstagefright messages in the logcat?

When you say - "no crashes", does that mean your videos play 'flawlessly' with the various formats of surround sound?

I think you mean libstagefright=on at the box with the modded libmedia ???
                                And then everything is fine?
