Yes seems ok up to now. Prob is sd goes in slow motion when libstagefright is enabled.

After reading Jakemate's post I decided to give the R89 another test. It has been powered down so after firing it up I tested the dual AC 5.1 DTS file and both sound channels came out good using the MX player. I did however noticed when switching between the two sound formats the switching to the DTS will sometimes create a message that DTS is not supported (then there would be no sound). Switching over to Kodi it would still crash when I selected the DTS channel. AAC 5.1 is still played in stereo using MX Player but it is played in SS only when transcoding is selected in Kodi. Trying to fast forward will still crash XBMC.

I realize that a good practice would be to power the box down after crashing so that all the SW could be freshly initialized??

Stafstrom has a post on XBMC forum, send him a message to disclose the libmedia.so patch, no reply.
The hack was posted on the old minixforums.com, and that forum doesn't work anymore, been replaced by new minixforum.com. Tried to compare a patched and non-patched libmedia.so, there are just too many differences. By the way SPMC 13.3.3 has been released but still based on Gotham.

HardwareGuru on minixforum and Freaktab and hillyu on Freaktab also know how to patch libmedia.so, but havn't received a reply back from them.

The other information I can find is (only this)
"... All credits for the idea and the initial patch to stafstrom, I just changed the registers and addresses of the patch to make it work on our libmedia.so"
                at http://allminipc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3374&f=3

BTW: at the 1.5a for the x7 Bob also talk about the librkffplayer.so (at 11.)

You will find them also at the new forum (posted by HardwareGuru; BTW: I don't think he knows how to do the patch)

I think the main problem will be to find a libmedia.so which is the one before the patch...
I think there exist ~7 different patched libmedia.so by him...

I got a message from mo123 saying that you want to know how to patch your version of libmedia.so.
I'll see if I can put something together, I haven't worked with this in almost a year so I just have to refresh my memory first.
Sadly I just realised that all my posts over at minixforums.com is gone.
I had explained most of it there.

Maybe not, you can still view websites from a year ago through cached pages of other sites like

just viewed the old minixforums pages

DTS is actually working on the modded XBMC setup

Looks like the file I picked for DTS testing, one where I could switch between DTS and AC3 audio channels, is the culprit. Both formats on that file play on MX Player but the DTS channel causes XBMC to crash. I found a few other DTS files and they all play fine on the modded libmedia and XBMC.

Found a quick way to see if passthrough is active. When attempting to change the volume using the TV Box remote when a passthrough is active, XBMC would display a notice to that effect. Dolby HD and DTS indicates both as being passthrough, AAC 5.1 is transcoded (i.e I can change the volume on the remote). But I guess I am probably exporting coal to New Castle with this observation.
