Version 2.04 not sure if any new fixes ontop of what you already have from other rk3288 firmware.
There is a readme inside the zip.
Its on there website, Google Ugoos.
Nothing worth making new firmware, everything already included in this ROM.
Only change is to built-in video player.
    Will upload new kernel with
    - extra 20+ usb webcam driver support
    - NFS FS support
    - Extra Gamepad support

I have extracted stock rom dated 29/09 (latest released) and copied thos 3 files.
Are there high chances that I could brick device? I just have to find enough bravery to push the button.
I have seen that your system.img is about 800 mb compared to my stock image which is 560 mb, is it due to applications included in the release?
Sorry about all these noob questions.
Yes, there are lots of apps.
If flashing doesn't work, you can just reflash.
You can also use MaskROM flashing(short 2 pins on board) if your device seems dead, so don't worry.

Then use the 2nd or last tab of the flash tool to 'unpack' the update.img(stock ROM).
Then copy the unpacked boot, resource & kernel into my ROM's rockdev/Image folder, replacing the 3 image files already there.
Then flash normally by 'lowerformat' and 'run' on the first tab of the flash tool.

    Thanks

Can extract it with the flash tool.
The EKB328/Q8 device has very slow RAM & EMMC speeds, I would try to send back to the seller and get a better device if still possible.

But the mouse-pointer stutters at 24Hz so they prefer to switch during the movie and back to 60 after the movie (automatically)...
    That's the idea.
For me watching a movie with this tearing, beacuse of the wrong framerate to the output device is a horror. It gets noticed where it shouldn't and in case you have a display or beamer with smooth-tech it ruins it all.
If you have high quality audio and display system you want a nice smooth movie playing.
And I prefer XBMC instead of the commercial dumb players. So yes I love to see the frame-switching.

Why do i need frequency switcher? I understand what it does (It currently supports switching manually (via mapped key) or automatically between refresh rates for these resolutions but why do i need to care about that? I can watch videos with 24/50hz even though my tv is connected on 1920x1080 60p, so whats the addon is all about?

sorry if this is a dumb question

    thanks

If you want to use 2GB or 8GB parameter file, you have to download it separately under the v1.2 ROM link.
Using the Firefly ROM and replacing it with my system.img will also not work, since my system.img is bigger in size and will overwrite the other partitions.
You have to flash the Firefly Images with my system.img and my parameter.img(the default one) but will loose linux support. If using my ROM you will have to flash boot.img,kernel.img and resource.img from Firefly ROM to get all the connectors, VGA etc working.
To just use my system.img, you need to increase the system partition in the parameter file to 800MB of Firefly ROM, then it will work.

Upload your Firefly parameter file, then I will edit it for you to work with my system.img.

I'm working on a linux dual-boot firmware for RK3288 that will work nice.
Thanks Mo, I got the system.img working fine with the 4Gb parameter file injected in the original rom! So excited to see your fireworks on my tv, thanks!
