    dead tablet !

I have used a different usb cables from my Bookeen Cybook eReader. The cable works fine with the reader but nothing hapen with the tablet.
Thinking about it, I think now that the battery is fully discharged and the charger doesn't work at all, maybe worth it may have damaged the device. It is now plugged in the tablet for 2 hours but still nothing happens.

    Thanks for your help.

Make sure your sd card is removed, Erase NAND and then Flash ROM (or your sd card will be erased). If this doesn't work 900SS has posted a thread explaining what to do when a bad flash happens.
Jesus Christ....bad flash because of a bad USB cable....if I read that bullsh** one more time.
Show me THAT bad USB cable wich really does have an impact on the data transferred.
I couldn“t imagine ANY USB 2.0 cable that couldn“t do the job.
If you are still using USB 1.1 cable for any operation nothing can help you anymore

I have some cables that fail 100 % flashing roms. They work fine for power and reasonable for small datafiles.

I've found the two cables that came with my cube to be reliable:-)

In terms of what to do if the flash goes wrong see the thread mentioned by ceptic.

          In short
          Are you in flash mode
try a different cable (cheap and will do no harm)
          Try a different USB port
          Examine the logs from flashing
Post with good clear details of what you are doing and what the result is (do you get any of the boot screens)
          Don't panic

            Dead tablet issue resolved

I finally managed to get through the flashing problem.
First of all I had to do the unbricking process: disassemble the device, connect the two contacts while pressing the power switch to get in Maskrom Mode. Then my device was again seen by the computer and I could attempt to flash the Rom. Biut I still had the same trouble: process failed during firmware download to the device.
Finally, I tried with a small Asus eeepc netbook that I have, and "surprise" the process was done without failure. I must have some hardware issue with my desktop.

How could I imagine that my small netbook succeed where my Intel Core i5 with 8Gb RAM desktop failed!!!?!

For next RAM update, just rename the ROM file "update.img", load it into a micro SD card and put it into the device. The tablet recognize the file ask for update approval and do the rest by itself...

Be sure NOT to use USB 3 Ports for this operation.
It is not uncommon that USB 2 and USB 3 devices (controller) have certain incompatibilities.

The advertisement "it“s downwards compatible" is not that true.
USB 2.0 down to 1.1 was never a problem but USB3 with USB2....I experienced massive problems myself.

Flashed two times until now....two different cables.....nothing selected....absolutely no probs!
Anyway...what is the definition of a quality cable??? How do you recognize your quality cable???
Because there is a known brand on the cable won`t work I`d say. I`m being honest I couldn`t tell someone how to identify a quality cable?!

As far as I am concerned it's one that works :-)

I ended up having to disassemble my h after flashing with a particular cable. Several failed attempts later each needing the pads shorting I swapped out to a cable i'd used before and flashed no problem.

Thanks for contributing to this thread with your comments re the use of two different cables. Please pop over to FMA and Slatedroid and make sure you inform everyone there that they are misinformed too. This is a helpful and friendly forum and responses like yours first one to me help no-one. Maybe you are correct on the difficulty of identifying a quality cable but I agree with 900ss that it is a cable that works which is likely to be a branded and USB 2 compatible one (as you mentioned). The majority of flashing issues, when upgrading a new cube, have been resolved by using a USB cable other than the one supplied with the tablet.

Well...it`s your right to have your own opinion.

So you think that my post doesn`t help anyone.
I`d say the advisce to use a "working cable" is a bad joke. That means literally absolutely nothing.
In fact my advice is easily more comprehensive:

                            - watch out for official USB 2.0 support
                            - don`t use USB 3 ports on your computer to keep maximum compatibility
                            - cable test: test via high speed data transfer with external harddisk. Anything above 22mb/sec. should be ok. 30mb/sec are clearly better.
                            - using cable delivered with cube can`t break warranty so should be first choice

This post is actually useful AND constructive but I don't agree with using the cube cable as too many inexperienced users have come unstuck. BTW if you don't agree with someone try not being so aggressive and calling their advice 'bullshit'. This is a friendly forum and that attitude helps no-one.

Agreed ceptic, I really appreciate all the help I've gotten from these forums.

@Magnifico, it sounds like you might have some relevant advisce (sic) and experience, but it gets lost in the condescending asshole approach that you take.
