I've just updated the first post with an updated rom kit hosted on FreakTab. This kit includes kernels from cubes 1.6 and 1.7 images together with the appropriate RK loader files. The default is the safe 1.6 kernel.

If you want to try the new 1.7 kernel you will also need to flash the 1.6 RK loader. Flashing loader files carries some risk, if you flash an incorrect loader you can brick your tablet and screwdrivers will be required to rescue. I've included both the 1.1 loader for earlier kernels and 1.6 for the kernel from cubes 1.7 image.

I am trying to help a friend go thru the process with the new updated rom kit(ie the updated one)
So we plug in the power cord to the tablet...
then connect the usb cord to the laptop
I have extracted the updated kit to a folder on the desktop..of the laptop
when the usb cable is plugged in
it detects two drives...RK 3066(show up under devices in device manager..in Windows 7)

then I start the ROM Flash Tool
and it says it detects "Found RKAndroid MASS Storage USB"
as soon as He holds down the vol+ button...then the power button
and then releases both
the screen on the tablet goes black
and under Device manager ..the two RK 3066 drives disappear
and the ROM Flash Tool ..says it cant detect the device

Also no new devices appear under device manager..ie which might need updated drivers
so what are we doing wrong???

I assume for maximum effect we need to use the Vol+ and power buttons
to send the tablet into flash mode
as against hitting the Reboot to flash mode key
in the ROM Flash Tool??

Also another question
in the flash list of ROM Flash kit
it shows nos 2-7 ticked(ie parameter, misc.img, kernel.img, boot.img,
recovery.img, system.img)
but not no 1(RK30xxloader)
or no 8(backup.img)
Is this correct??

Turn off the cube. Press and hold volume + now press power and hold for 3 seconds, then release volume. The PC should now recognise the tab if you have the drivers setup.

No need to flash rk loader or backup.

We tried that many ways...but in order to setup the drivers
dont you have to have a device show up in Device manager...ie unknown device
nothing would show up..when we did the vol+ and then power for 3 secs

maybe we held it for too long..ie more than 3 sec
is that critical?

or can you load the drivers without the device appearing in Device manager?

what does the tablet appear as in flash mode..in device manager?
ie after the vol+ and power for 3seconds

You need to put the tab into flash mode as idescribed . The screen will be blank. There is a good post by Damo on installing drivers and flashing .

Help!

Bro, need help. Android noob here. Followed the steps and installed drivers but the ROM flash tool cannot detect my tab. Tried everything but still cannot detect. Please help as its killing me. Thanks a ton

This is my 1.1 ROM for the Cube U30GT H. This is based on the latest cube1.7 ROM

My cube currently has a hardware fault and I cannot flash it so until we have confirmation that the rom is good this should be considered a BETA. I have applied all these changes to my Cube Mini so it should be good.

• 2 gig space for apps

* Note for the market fix I've not changed build prop to spoof another device. If you want to do this it's easy either by editing build.prop by hand or using one of the editors available on google play.*

ROM -> U30GT H 900supersport_1.1c.zip (279 Meg)


By default this will flash with the kernel from cubes 1.6 and Boot and System from 1.7. See postscript for using the 1.7 kernel.

Instructions

• Remove sdcard before flashing otherwise it may get re formatted
• Unzip
• open the folder.
• Connect the cube
• Double click the ROM Flash Tool
• start the cube in flash mode (hold vol+ and power for 3 to 4 seconds then release power then volume)
• If you do not have drivers already installed they are included with the rom kit in the drivers folder
• Once drivers installed the flash tool should see your cubeand update the status at the bottom
• Click the [Erase NAND (IDB)]button, you should see progress recorded on the right up to 8192 (I expected 4096)
• Once complete click Flash ROM, again follow progress until done
• The cube should now restart, it will pause on the peas screen for a while as filesystems are formatted mounted and initialised

At the clockwork screen press the power button to restart (if you go on to use clockwork the volume + and - buttons scroll up and down and power is select)

The Cube should now reboot showing my boot animation and then start up in English.

PS If you wish to try the 1.7 kernel you will have to update the RK Loader. From the flash tool check the RKLoader entry and then click in the small box to the right and select the 900supersport folder. From this folder select the RK30xxLoader(L)_V1.16.bin. Now do likewise with the kernel and select kernel_1.7.img. finally flash. To revert to an earlier kernel you will need to flash the other RK loader included in the kit.

Warning: flashing rk loader carries more risk than normal flashings. The two img files provided have been extracted from cubes original images and should be safe. I am still unable to test this myself.

Hi. Saw damo's thread but don't but don't know how to adapt to cube u30gt-h, mainly due to lack of reset button. Again, sorry for noobish behaviour and would appreciate your help. And yes, tried the flash mode already but to no avail. Thanks.

I had this problem when I stuffed up installing the Rockchip Tool drivers, the PC would no longer see the new device.

I found this tool that lets you disable USB drivers, that fixed the problem it seems to have installed some driver that was confusing Windows that had all ready installed the driver.

Exactly...and looking around further I have found that the driver is either not installed
or installed incorrectly..ie Windows has installed the wrong one
and therefore the tablet is not appearing in DeviceManager correctly..

This thread below has given me a visual indication
of what I should see appear in Device manager
in Windows...and now I know what to look for
and hopefully it will then allow
me to get the flashing tool to recognise the Tablet correctly
ie FOUND RKANDROID LOADER ROCK USB at bottom of Flashing tool
before wiping the ROM
and then installing your new fabulous package!

How have people found 1.7 compared with 1.6? Just asking because with the applied WiFi fix, 2 finger rotate patch and Pimp My ROM flash 1.6 is rocking for me (900ss 1.0) and I'm trying to limit my ocd like ROM flashing! I have also overcome my SD card corruption issue by making sure I NEVER remove/add the SD card manually while the tablet is on.

I selected everything except the settings related to phone/mobile data. I feel that my screen is more responsive to touch is typing is 100% successful with no dropped letters. Antutu benchmark increased from 7300 to 7634 and the rest is possibly placebo? Other than these improvements it hasn't made things worse though, as I type this, I notice my WiFi signal is weaker in a room that normally has full strength. I'll reapply the WiFi fix and see if that fixes it.

Edit: WiFi signal full again after reapplying fix so Pimp My ROM decreased my WiFi performance
