    PM sent. Here's hoping!

Update: It looks like the first attempt failed (brick city). I'll give it a second try tonight.

(Aside to mdPhoenix: I just sent you a PM with the URL for v2 - it should boot )

mdPhoenix reported that my first attempt at a LiveSuite image didn't boot. When I looked at it, I found the bootloader files were missing. From this I learned a valuable lesson:
      • never rely on a single online tutorial, read 4 or 5 of them if possible. In this case, I was using the one at miniand.com which was beautifully done but left out the the bit about adding the bootloader files. Ooops.

      Live and learn...

        Hey now!!

I'm new and I was just about to practice using LiveSuite so I can be familiar with flashing and updating my ROM on the PMID703c... I don't want to lose root, I'm still trying to find help with getting JellyBean and Adobe Flash on this tablet... So, is it or not okay to restore using LiveSuite?

Okay, as stated, you gotta have a bootloader in your image or your device is bricked. That being said, we THOUGHT it was bricked. After the flash, I got nothing. And what I say nothing, I mean NOTHING. No backlight, no noise. Nothing. So, I figured it's a good time to take this thing a part. First thing learned - these run on an Allwinner A13. I thought it was an A10. Anyway, next item learned, they have a HUGE battery.

While it was apart, I assumed it was trying to boot, or something. Because the A13 was getting hot. I noticed that if I pressed the power button, it cooled off again. So it was responding to the power button but I could still get nothing.

I told DoloresPark that I wasn't going to try it on another one, and that this thing was so bricked that I had to cut the battery cable to stop it from getting hot. She told me that was the perfect time to reflash it because it was in the "flash ready" mode. They apparently have a secondary device built-in for just flashing. When you pull the whole "power button, alternate button, and press power 10 times" song and dance, that's activating some alternate mode for flashing.

So, to make a long story longer, I tried - with the battery cable still cut - to flash Dolores' ROM. The flasher recognized the device and flashed it! Then it was stuck in a boot loop. So I flashed the original ROM again, and now, it's working. Son of a brick, it's working.

So, DoloresPark, we're back to a working test tablet, but your image puts it into a boot loop. I just get the Polaroid splash screen and it keeps blanking out, then coming up again.

          I'm ready for round 3.

Update - I just flashed the PMID703C on my PTAB7XC and it worked flawlessly. As we all know, it's still not rooted though. So, I'll await another ROM from Dolores.

Hold that thought. Meanwhile, double, triple check that there's no way to get into Recovery. It would be a breeze to fix if there were a way.

Negative. No option for boot to recovery.

Just a thought here, since I don't have this tablet. Is there any sort of way documented how to get into the hardware mode needed to upload a Live Suite image? Might be a better plan of attack to try to use the Live Suite image way...

Yes. When downloading an image from southerntelecom.com there are instructions.
The device needs to be shut off. Make sure the USB cable is plugged in to the PC but not the tablet. Once it's off, hold down the power button and any other hardware button. Keep holding the buttons, and put the USB cable in the tablet. Then press the power button about 10 times. If LiveSuite is awaiting the device, it will pop up and ask you if you wish to format.
It's definitely different from what we're used to with other Android devices, but it works. And it works well, apparently. I'm not convinced that these things are unbrickable.

Gotcha. I'll download the latest firmware and see what I can do.

Today, I got my PMID703c onto recovery mode w/o using LiveSuite...

                        * While the tablet is off, hold to power button and volume up (+) until the Polaroid flash screen blink in and out of twice.

                        * Then you we'll see an Android laying down w/ his chest open and a red hazard sign w/
                        exclamation mark

                        * Then press the home button (I think... or vol. up) to view the menu and use vol. up or down to move through selection (which isn't much)!!!

The recovery is an E3 and all I seem was Reboot, and I'll have check it out again after I finish typing this post... using the tablet now

... I need some help with this situation... While still trying to root this tablet IS loaded up ADB and push google market into my /system/app and now it's working w/o crashing (sometimez)! After that, I did a total software reset (select 'Erase Everything'), and now I can no longer access anything on the tablet thru ADB...(Permission Denied!!). Can anyone tell what l done wrong and what I can do to get back access thru ADB?

If you can get into Recovery and one of the buttons acts as an Enter key so you can execute the selected menu item, then you have a way to fix any problems - assuming you actually have a problem. Did you apply the same firmware update that MdPhoenix did? If so, you've lost root access while booted up normally and need a fix.

If not, then you just need to do things a bit differently. How were you booted when you pushed Vending.apk to /system/app: normally or in Recovery? If normally, then try this sequence of commands: "adb kill-server", "adb root", "adb shell". If successful, the command prompt should show "root@android"; if not, you'll see "shell@android".

If you were in Recovery (or if you haven't tried this in Recovery), just run "adb shell". My guess is that you're always rooted in recovery, so you'll get "root@android" (I can't confirm this because I don't have the stock recovery on my tab currently). If so, re-rooting your main system will be super-easy.

Yeah, I guess I need a fix cause I can't get root access. I cant get LiveSuite v1.07 or v1.09 to flash any other ROM but the stock from southerntelecom. I don't know any other way to get CWM on the tablet. I've tried a firmware kit to gain access to PMID703c stock ROM .IMG file (or gain access to the system.img file) so I can use the kit to unpack, root and repack. Can anyone point in the direction to find more info on these things or help me with this??

Can I flash a Custom ROM with LiveSuite and if so, are procedures different than flashing the Stock ROM? I don't have an USB driver issue cause the Stock flash w/ no prob. Trying to flash Custom ROM, it don't show the 'Upgrade Selection Window' after plugging the USB into the tablet. After performing the button sequence that usually initialize that 'Upgrade Mode' selection, LiveSuite does nothing... Any suggestions?

To the PMID703C folks. I've created a Live Suite Flashable image modeled after my own PMID 701C factory image, adding root (SuperSU 'free') and google play. This is based on latest stock firmware on the Polaroid site.

Can someone please test this and tell me if any (or all) of it was successful?

                                Thanks!
