When I open the Wifi Settings, it says "Scanning...." The tablet sees all the nearby networks, even ones I have connected to before, but it won't connect. When I choose a network and click "Connect", nothing happens.

If I turn Wifi off, then back on again - it's fine and it connects automatically to my home network.

I don't remember this happening with the previous version of your ROM.

    any thoughts?

    thanks again Paul
Disable network notification scanning as it is not needed if you only use it at home, and also check the advanced WiFi settings to make sure that the sleep policy setting is never switched off(You can always just use power widget to turn off wifi from a homescreen if you did not want to go into settings to do it)

      Damo,

Thanks! I forgot to set the sleep policy to never. I'll give it a try.

I actually prefer to set wifi sleep to "never when plugged in." I don't want to forget it's on (even though I have a toggle on my main home screen) and then return to the tablet only to find the battery dead.

Yep! That is a great tip! I just checked and I have had this Tab so long I forgot that trick!

Thanks for sharing a tip I forgot long ago

If I don't do what you are saying my tablet will shut itself off, but when I plug it in and look at the battery status, it appears to have about 20% remaining. I find this odd as my son can play games on it until it runs the battery down to around 5% and does not shut off on its own.

It means the wifi radio won't shut off when the unit is plugged into the wall and charging. It's good for when you anticipate certain applications automatically updating data overnight while the tablet is on the charger.

For instance, theoretically, all of the Philadelphia Newspaper apps can be set to automatically download the next day's issue when its ready, but if you let wifi time-out, it won't happen.

That having been said, don't know about other PMN tablet owners here, the next time my tablet automatically downloads the paper will be the first time it does.

I thought it was just me. My PMN tablet never downloads the paper automatically overnight, but if I open the black Inquirer app in the morning, it'll "usually" start the download itself after a few seconds.

Mildly annoying, but better than going out in the rain to get the newspaper

                    USB storage

I'm finding that when I connect a USB drive to the full-size USB port, and then disconnect it, the tablet autoremoves the sd card. It doesn't then remount it (even if I physically remove and reinsert it) which means all the apps "moved to sd" are gone until I do a full reboot.

I'm certain that wasn't a problem on my first tablet (although it had NAND issues ultimately requiring a warranty return), and I'm certain this has happened on this one with both stock firmware and finless 1.3.

                    Anyone notice this?

Ill just move all the apps to the tablet to solving this.

Actually, there was a similar bug on Gingerbread custom ROMs for the HTC Droid Incredible. If you went into USB drive mode upon connecting to a computer, then disconnected, the unit would "lose" all the apps that had been moved to SD. One workaround was an app called Link2SD that required you devote a portion of your SD card to a non-DOS "ext3" partition (is this starting to sound familiar?). Then Link2SD would link the apps to the ext3 partition, and Gingerbread wouldn't "lose" them when you disconnected.

I haven't checked to see whether that's possible with this firmware, but, to tell you the truth, with more than 600 megabytes still free after installing more than 60 apps, I probably don't have anything to worry about if I decided to move everything back from the SD card! (Of course, the problem would persist for those apps that require access to the SD card to get their data, or perform their functions, e.g. Titanium Backup, etc.)
