De-bloating my 1.4 ROMs for all tablets I have done so far!

drs, which tablet do you have? If it is the 10 G2 then yes you can delete these. They are leftovers from Archos for resisitive screens.

If you want to keep TSCalibration then just delete Awizard.apk and wizard.odex. This is the thing that force launches the calibration after a reset. Now if you ever want to calibrate the screen go into settings and it is there. But I have yet to need to calibrate.

Request for bare bone Rom.

Remove the update media library at start up. I know there is a program to do this on the market for rooted devices but all the program was was a script.

Sick of that popping up all the time and I think this in some way is part of the memory card bug as well.

Just have it as manual update only

My bet is this is not removing just an APK. So seeing the script and how it does it would help.

By the way, removing this may have scary reprocussions! Without the media library being updated things like picture and movie apps wont find things on the sdcard. Not sure what else this might effect.

Worked for me....

I deleted those 4 files (Wizard and its odex and calibration and its odex) using Root Explorer, cold rebooted and there were no problems at all. The boot time was shorter. This is on Finless' 1.4.

As far as the media sync is concerned, unless someone knows precisely what app is doing the syncing, I wouldn't delete it, in case that's the ONLY way to sync media (and the problem is that the app doesn't have a setting to shut off its automatic scan), as opposed to there being two apps, one that scans and one that starts the other automatically.

With the media sync I only meant stopping it at boot not deleting it, just a pain in the arse every time that the tablet boots. Some people may never put pics etc on device so it is updating nothing at boot just wasting boot time.

Like I said though there is there is app to do it but obviously that may slow boot time so catch 22

Agreed. Of course, you could put a .nomedia empty file in every directory and that would shorten the process (but would force you to use a file manager to access media because the player software wouldn't necessarily read it). My guess is that the "service" is launched from within the apk, so even if the "app" isn't running, the service is. Delete one, you delete both.

HI Bob. LIvewallpapers are cool, but take CPU and battery resources. Since we have limited memory resources with the 7G2, I delete them all and use the static wallpapers.
