Most users on Gingerbread OS report problems with Flash 11. Thus most everyone is using Flash 10.3.

As for movie players. I find MX VIdeo Player pretty good. Also read about 4 posts up other are recommending some more videos players they like.

Since Flash is a "installed" app and not a system app, you can go into manage apps, click on Flash app, delete data first, then uninstall.
To be sure it is all gone, go into the SD Card and delete any Flash related folders. You might also want to go in with a root file manager and delete anything Flash related in the /data/Dalvic-cache folder.

Now install 10.3

I used astro file manager and it said the dalvic cache was empty. along with most of the other files I clicked on. I think titanium backup deleted everythin when I uninstalled flash 11.1 from there.

any news on a debloated nextbook 7 rom?

Only time dalvic cache can be empty is right after you clean it. Use a file explorer that supports root (ES File Explorer), go into dalvic cache, click multiple selections, select all files, and delete. Then reboot.

Also, my fave video player is QQ. Plays all types of files, quality picture, & creates a library view of videos as you import them.

Enable Root in ES File Expl.

In ESFE: menu, settings, scroll to bottom;
be sure checks for both Root Explorer and Mount File System.
That works for me. [Finless 1.3 on #1211]. Should be same on any rooted version.
[IN fact when I test Off for those settings, my Dalvic says empty!!!]

Astro is not very powerful, even with root access. MyBackupPro has a root toolbox that I believe will wipe Dalvik and I think even Titanium Backup now has those kinds of utilities available.

Just remember that after you wipe Dalvik cache your next reboot will take a little bit longer than normal.

I just tried Astro myself for the first time today. Sorry it is slow and I do not like it.

Crap is totally removed. Sorry I just do not like how long it takes to open on launch. I also do not like the layout. FYI this is the free version too.

SD Maid is a dangerous tool in the hands of someone who doesn't know exactly what they're doing. You can remove things that the system requires, and send your Android device into a boot loop. I ran it for a while on my rooted HTC Droid Incredible about a year ago and found it sometimes caused more trouble than it was worth.

"Official" Minimum /system?

"Official" Minimum /system?
Has anyone - Dev or Google or ? -- published the minimum apk list to go into /system for a tablet to work? I.e., excluding both bloatware and options that can be added from Market? Realize it is different depending on hardware ability; that likely shifts the onus to Maker, but still google could say for its apps.

Android is based on Linux; be nice if they used Linux's practice of naming dependencies (eg, Contacts to Phone or Talk?)

Finless, how do you decide /system content - between must vs. nice?

For one's own /system is it better to have a non-must apk in /system or added? why?

For the most part removing APK from /system/app is debloating it of apps people do not want or if they want can install later as a user apps in /data/app

In fact I am working on my 1.5 ROM now for the Arnova 10G2. The philly tablet has a updated kernal and .ko modules & libs. I am making a new 10G2 debloat / general ROM.

You know from experience what is bloat and what is not.

I will still be injecting the full Market as this is where dependencies can get tricky!!! Someone may say I do not want google maps for instance. Well there goes some of the framework needed for other google apps to work! The Market is heavily tied to other google apps! Having Gmail for instance is a must I found out or accounts and sync settings wont work properly (acts flaky) and many tables are missing from accounts DB and other databases!

Anyway back to work on my 1.5
