Wish to have go ex launcher And do away with the stock desktop launcher.
Wish to have mx video for both video and music.
I only use the tablet for internet and my kids use it. Sometimes I might use the calculator or read a PDF. I would like only what's needed to go onto the net and market. Like I said, if I can get it from the market then I will. Thanks So much for considering this!
You have to be careful about what you include from other developers. Not all are happy about seeing their apps in others' ROMs.

As to what is "bloat" and what is required, you can always just move stuff from \sysem\apps to \data\apps and let the user decide.

Cool. Here are my suggestions for the Nextbook 7:
      Remove:
      1. Nextbook tips & app
      2. Generic email & Google mail (I don't want Google Mail built into the ROM, I'd rather download it)
      3. Appslib (doesn't work on the Nextbook 7) & Slide Market
      4. Advanced task killer. (I'd rather download a better one from the market)
      5. Weather, Alarm Clock, Time clock (again, the Market has 1 app that can handle all these operations.
6.The YouTube is outdated. (Would rather download the Official Google YouTube app)
      7. Live Wallpaper (it's a drain on battery)
      8. Kobo & the Generic eReader (I download Kindle)
      9. Music & Video apps (There are much better ones on the Market)
      10. Dialer, Dialer Contacts, Talk, Bluetooth (can't be used on the Nextbook 7)
      11. Tts (I've never gotten it to work)
      12. Astro & ES File Manager (better ones on Market)
      13. Office .pdf reader (.pdf's can be read in Kindle & this app is only built in to try & get you to purchase the full Office)
      14. Stock Launcher. (I prefer Go Launcher, others may not)
      15. Gallery (seems to always be on & can download better from Market)

      Include:
      Superuser
Titanium Back-up (they give permission for developers to include the free version in their ROMS)
      Android Market
      Theme settings
      Wallpaper
Google Calendar Sync, Google Contacts Sync, Google Partner set-up, Google Framework.

The less junk in Nand, the better. Clean this baby up. Also, I like the current bootscreen & bootanimation.

I hate the crapware that manufacturers put on there tablets etc. For example my wife got a Toshiba netbook and I must of taken off about 20 programs off. About 10 of them started up at boot.

I will not inject any apps like titanium. Sorry.

However google Market will be injected since that is not something you can really install properly and expect to work right.

          But I have the list!

Too bad the Arnova guys are not putting a list together! So maybe the nextbook will be first for 1.4.5

Also my next ROM kit AFTER 1.4.5 may allow you to CHOOSE your setup! Thats if I can get it working in Windows
It will prompt and ask questions of what to install. That will be 1.5 I think. We shall see.

Rock on Finless! Thanks for helping to make a cheap-o tablet into something I actually use everyday. Knowing nothing of Android when I started, I'd still be searching the web blindly for answers. So again, thanks for your time & hard work.

Not sure I would call it hard work... well a little. I call it FUN work!

I have learned so much since getting my first Android device November 23 2011.

              Glad your enjoying my ROMs!

                Hi Finless,

About the Arnova 10b G2 capacitive, I would say go on! A bare bone version is ok on my side. I'll check what ever is running on mine and that I'm not using.

Thanks and have a ncie day,

                  Hi Bob
for the Arnova 9g2 I would like to see

removing anything relating to mobile phone
                  appslib
                  calibration screen
update media library at start up
                  LiveWallpapers
                  Clock

Just a barebones system so that we can add our own choice of what we want on it.

Thank you for all your good work on making my tablet a whole lot better to use.

                    10 g2

Hey guys. Deleting wizard/odex, ts cal/odex, email/odex slowed start up by 2-5 sec...It's not a problem though. What about Phone, Telephony Provider, and where is Dialer located? Or is that part of Phone? Loving 1.4 by the way thanks again Bob. One more thing not apart of topic, but how can I effectively use the storage(like is NAND flash the flash folder in / ) also in / sdcard appears a couple times (sdcard, mnt, flash) does it matter where I put the files? Sorry for these (dumb) questions. Im just a bit confused on where files go or are supposed to go.

Finless, I'm still on your original ROM for the 7 G2 which you posted over on Arctablet forum so thanks for all the hard work! BTW I had no idea that you were are continuing to develop the ROM here and only found out after reading a post mentioning freaktab. I may have missed the post, but it's prob worth noting over on Arctablet forum that you're continuing to develop it here!

Anyway...my two cents worth on the ROM content/de-bloating issue. Personally I'd separate the issue of redundant functionality in the original ROM with that of taking out weak or outdated apps for a barebones version.

Redundant functionality such as TS calibration for capacitive models should really be stripped out as part of the main release to make it as clean/efficient as possible from the get go.

Failing a ROM kitchen or kit to cook in add-ons/separate apps, I think a separate bare-bones version would also be good alongside the main release.

One other thing that I may have missed in previous discussions here but what are the chances of getting hold of a kernel for the Arnova allowing us to over/underclock the speed and voltage of the CPU with governors? That would be a major benefit re the battery life as these tablets are continually 'rocking' at 1Ghz.

                      Thanks,
                      ---------

arc555arc, yes sdcard shows up a couple places. The reason is part of internal memory is mounted as scard in case you do not actually have a physical one. When you put a sdcard in, the mount is shared between both. So to make sure stuff goes on the real sdcard, always you the /sdcard from the root directory. Not in mnt, system, etc.

BTW you should delete only Awizard and the odex. This is what causes the calibration to pop up after a rest. Leave calibration as there is a menu choice in settings that now will not work if you remove calibration.
Re: mail. You need to have some kind of mail client as google apps look for it. So if you removed the lousy stock on setup the gmail one and it should get you back to normal boot speed.

Panita, I would love to have the kernel!!!! SO if enough people bug Archos/Arnova maybe they will cough it up.

Thank's for the response Bob, but sitll slower boot time 1:50 total compared to 1:43 before deleting apps no big deal(was 2:46 with stock) No response to this needed Oh, and I'll bug Archos/Arnova for a released kernel Back to un-needed apps do we need the Phone/Telephony/Dialer? This isn't a phone. Other then that the only things running/cached process are Sync, Andr Core Apps,T Backup Super User, Maket, Media SD Maid and other needed things. I don't really see the point in keeping all the other junk. Would be sweet if you just strip everything (un-needed) out, and just have your sweet ass rom on there BOOM! Love all your hard work thanks

Thats is odd that boot is slower... However ytou might try this!

Go into /data and delete the entire delvic-cache folder. Then reboot. This next reboot will be a lot slower as it will be rebuilding the delvic cache again. However the stuff you removed will now not get rebuilt in the delvic cache. This maybe what is slowing you down after deleting apps. Stuff left in delvic. After that first reboot, see if it is back to normal boot speed.

                              Oh......no...I think?

Back to normal boot time after deleting dalvik-cache, but now im kind of worried because I deleted Calibration/odex earlier.Would it be possible to put them back in system/apps? I could re-flash....That's going to be kind of a pain (not the flash process thats a breeze) putting everything back to normal. Could (If no trouble or some free time) someone upload them...or not I can always re-flash.
