    Hi bob

Think about my Huawei E180 3G Stick when you work on 1.5 ROM

I cant do much about the E180 stick without kernel drivers.
If you know of another RK29 tablet that supports that stick, I can possibly use the drivers.

          Jim, you got a sticky!

I moved your E180 instructions to the Arnova support forum and stuck it!

          Thanks for sharing that.

No worries Bob - hope that helps someone.

Any word on Bluetooth yet please ?

I've got a couple of USB adaptors here that work out of the box with Ubuntu, so hoping they'll also work in the tablet.

            Rgds,

            Jim.

If your willing to test I can iunject Fenice57's BT drivers into ROM 1.4. I cant say if it will work with your BT sticks or not so thats why the testing.

              Let me know,

Bob - sure - I'm happy to test that.

I have previously tried comparing ROMs to see where Bluetooth is enabled, but couldn't find anything ...

                Rgds,

Just an idea, I don't know if it would work, but for the people who need some apps that cannot be installed from the market, if you can get the apk files from the rom, wouldn't it be possible to have the barebone rom and a zip file containing all removed apk, so that they can be installed as normal apps?
I don't know enough about the arnova roms to see if those apk can be installed after flashing.
If it is possible, maybe, you can please everyone

But, if you manage to make an installer where people can choose exacly what they want to include, like I think I understood you planed, that may be the right solution.

As my Arnova 10 g2 was returned to arnova (faulty hardware) I cannot be as specific as I would like concerning the apps I would like to remove, but from what I remember, the auto calibration was really annoying. removing it would be a great improvement.

I would like appslib to be removed too. Maybe with a separate apk, so that we can eventually get it removed.

Also, if you can figure what phone related apps can be safely removed, that would be great.

I know you don't want to add other apps, but if we could get some sort of text file editor, from which we can copy text, it would be great. I have a slightly complex wpa key. And it is a real pain to have to type it with the integrated virtual keyboard. If it could just be copy/pasted It would save me a major pain after flashing.

Thanks again for your work. Your rom is great.

                      @petrus,
                      1.for files:
                      From tablet esFileExplorer is best adhoc with clipboard file moves via LAN wifi;
From pc also esfe, plus others, eg, myphoneexplorer, QtADB, My Mobiler [ usb or wifi]

                      2. for typing into tablet input fields, mine is ShareKeyboard [via my pc browser Firefox over lan wifi]; THIS IS WHAT YOU ASKED FOR.

If you really want text app get Notepad or its ilk on Market, but then you still need another to key in. Easier to create on pc, then move to tab.

Probably many others via Google - pc and Market. [sorry, stupid name change to PLAY?]

                      Cheers, Rob

                        Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I currently use Es Explorer for text editing. It works fine. In fact, my problem is that the first thing I do after flashing is setting up wifi so that I can download apps.

So what I suggested is to put a text editor in the rom, from which I can copy/paste. But I think next time, I will try to directly get the apk of ES Explorer, to install it before setting up my wifi wpa key.

And I'll try ShareKeyboard. It seems a good idea, thanks.

If you want to edit on the tab, my pref is Hackers Keybd - closer to pc and much better than stock.

I uninstalled Astro. Not sure why it's so popular.

The only thing about Astro I like is the ability to create a widget on the home screen that points to a directory on the tablet from which you can open documents. I use my tablet extensively to replace paper copies, and often attend meetings where I'm using the tablet version of documents. I can put the documents I'll need in that folder and then just jump right to the documents from the home screen using the Astro widget.

Otherwise, as a file manager its fair to middling. I usually stick to Root Explorer and Ghost Manager now.

Also esFileExplorer does the same; what you call a widget, esfe calls a Shortcut: long press brings up context menu "Operations" then scroll and pick Shortcut or Bookmark or your choice.

                                Cheers.
