Thanks Bob, I was definitely counting from the wrong spot (the other side of the NAND next to the wifi). I'm using the cable that came with my S3, so it should work. Trying counting from your spot now.

Look at the nand chip. There is a round circle embedded in the corner of the chip. This indicates pin 1. Count down from there.
Also know this. MANY of these devices the USB cable that comes with it is for power only! They don't have data lines. You can find many many posts here where people went and got a real USB cable and it solved the issue of Windows not seeing the device in flash mode.

Make sure your using a USB 2.0 port. RK does not support USB 3.0 ports.

I've tried shorting the chip. Honestly not sure which pins to short so i might be shorting the wrong ones.

Re: Help me identify this stick...
Did you ever shortpin the chip?

So much for that idea. Just keeps booting into the (!). Computer (macbook pro running win 7) never detects it.

I've now gone so far as to rig an elastic band and a spare jumper to keep the button pressed for me just to see if windows will EVER detect it.

Same result. On the TV I get the Android (!), no reaction from the computer. I tried holding the button for 10 and 30 seconds.

Yes, the drivers are on the computer. Doesn't mean that much as the pc never recognizes that the stick is connected via usb.

@Spawn12336
Do you have installed drivers on your PC for this stick?
