Did you install the custom codec for MXPlayer that enables passthrough DTS/AC3?
Please try this firmware and see if passthrough is working Here.
No I am using dolby and dts and passthrough is not working.with this link firmware I,ve installed this earlier.passthrough with native player and mxplayer<1.7.32 and spmc was working but mxplayer >1.7.32 was not working.with this link I had passthrough true hd and dts hd ma too but not with spmc.my problem was bluetooth was not working and mxplayer>1.7.32 switch to sw and passthrough was not working.

I'm connected to a LAN, so distance shouldn't be a problem, and no need for repeaters/extenders in that case.
I use stock HPH WiFi antenna which worked great until now, but I'm not sure if I could find any other to mount instead of that one.

Normal WiFi works good for me too, in sense of box stability, but because the box is about 10m away from router, speed is very slow.
But that way I can't use WiFi AP, since they can't work together.

I also tried BlueTooth tethering, and it works just fine, but 3Mbps is slow as hell compared to my LAN speed.
Today my issue is manifesting in the form of instant reboot when my other device initiate some download over WiFi AP.
So it's difficult to get a catlog, since it's erased across reboots. Or not?

Anyways, this is not my preffered way of connecting to the internet, and should only be temporary.
My other device which is also 10m away from router can't even connect to it, and it doesn't have a LAN port.
So I ordered usb to lan adapter to work arround that issue, but it will take at least 3 weeks to arrive to my place.

If there's any other info about my network configuration I should provide, just ask and I'll check it out.
Meanwhile, I'll check how lollipop handles WiFi AP and report back here.

EDIT: even though a beta, lollipop handles my WiFi AP just fine. No reboots and full speed ahead!
It has some bugs, worst of them not being able to mount my external usb hard drives I heavily depend upon. And only 1 working usb port
But it's not a big deal since right now I need the box as an AP only, and all other tasks I'm dedicating to my other tv box.
Sorry for cross-posting, I just wanted to insert my edit here where I started my question initialy.
What other box do you have that is so much better that you would relegate your rk3288 to the lowly role of AP?

You can buy new AP's, high rate N ones for under $10 on aliexpress, maybe ****, too. Maybe even AC ones.

    Cheers!

I'm 99.9% sure that it doesn't only on SPMP from what I've read on FT.

Before I flash it, I would like to ask something.
Recently I've been experiencing some random reboots while WiFi AP in turned on (v1.6).
Sometimes it reboots afer only 10 minutes, but no more than 30 minutes.
If I turn WiFi AP off (while still connected to the same router), the box can stay on for weeks.
So the question is, did you changed something is relation to that in your v1.7 version?
Or should I maybe try a lollipop version? btw, when will final v1.0 come out?
Wifi AP: Is your router far away from your TV Box or what kind of configuration are you using?
Can you use another cheap router in-between your modem/router and TV Box to give a better signal or use as an access point?
Do you use the normal round oval antennae on your HPH or the flat 'squirrel tail' antennae that works much better?

Just normal wifi for me works very good. I don't use a Wifi AP.
If you can tell more about your network, maybe someone else can also help.

Maybe take a logcat(catlog app on Play Store) of your device and post it, so Nagrace or someone can check it and find out if there is something mentioned that cause the freezes/reboots/disconnections with the Wifi AP

Lollipop firmware still has some bugs, that's why I haven't released a new version yet.
Want it to work very stable without problems before I work on it again.

Where other devices stutter, this ROM plays the same videos fine on HPH devices.

I'm really disappointed in all the RK3368 boxes I've seen so far.
Very little quality control, and the basic things that should work like video playback has lots of problems.
And then companies just forget about fixing those problems and move on to other chips like AMLogic, MStar, Intel & then back to Rockchip.
Rockchip actually produces very good CPU's, but the manufacturers combine it with other lower quality components that cause bottlenecks and don't optimize the firmware, very sad.

At least the new HPH RK3368 will also be of high quality and people will see that spending a little more money is worth it in the long run, than saving a few bucks and having lots of problems afterwards.

My hph box it's almost finish to replacing my minix x8h plus, I only missing two thing a working hdmi cec and full working Linux kodi then I thinks it will be my last box for long
