As far as xbmc goes which is best, Android or windows?

    ...

I am using Kodi.tv on X8 (64/2G), On a few channels, PBS ThinkTV and smithsonian channels, some movie stutters on Win 8.1, but runs smoothly on android. I am located in US. In general, my experience in streaming media, android is much less taxing on the hardware when compare with window..

      Hi guys,
Just registered here as this is so far the best forum I found for this subject! Please forgive my ignorance in advance!

I am awaiting my Pipo x8 to arrive, and have been finding every possible piece of information I can on any forum/review/video I can find!

So I should say I am a long time apple user (around 15 years professional audio work) and I'm really not interested in getting into the debate here now, but just so you know, Im not completely technology retarded and I have used windows machines a fair bit, but haven't owned one for a very very long time!

So with that out of the way!

I am interested in upgrading to windows 10 before doing anything when it arrives. I have used windows 8 before and wasn't impressed, and I like the look and what Im hearing about windows 10.

My main question is how is it to upgrade, I can't seem to find a clear answer. Is there a very easy way to just do it all through the Windows updater/downloader/whatever, or do I need to do all this complicated stuff Ive been reading here and elsewhere?

And if it is just an easy process through Windows, is there then something I need to do with drivers etc?

Once again forgive my ignorance, Ive been living in the sheltered world of not needing to do weird boots and flash drives in different formats and all that jazz!
Im just worried about seeing all these posts/threads of this stuff and I don't want to screw it up on the first day I get it!

      Cheers!

edit : just to say I have gone through this thread, but can't quite figure out if all these methods you are talking about is to fix the issues from having removed android and trying to get it back, or similar stuff...

OK... The X8 will be delivered with a valid (activated) Windows 8.1 license. This will allow Windows 10 to be made available from MS. Go and run the update until it is current. You will be notified when Windows 10 is ready to be downloaded. When downloaded, just run it. The X8 will reboot a number of times before it is complete. My X8 updated to Windows 10 without incident.

Great, thanks for the info! And there's no driver issues with you? just a little confused as to why pipo released the win 10 drivers if it's fine just to do it all by update...

Sorry again, Im used to being sheltered from drivers or firmware etc, except the occasional music equipment firmware updates which is normally very simple and well documented.

I did this, I've run the windows 10 upgrade 4 times. It gets to about 60% done then says there's an error before restoring back to 8.1. I've given up trying! Any ideas? Windows error code 8007002C

Update: I managed to install windows 10 if I told it, "not to keep anything". I installed the PIPO x8 drivers and it seems to be working apart from the auto rotation which at first go I can't seem to re-enable and the windows button in the centre bottom of the touchscreen does not have any effect now. Is this button not used in 10 or have I a driver issue?

                      Hi

As i had purchased the X8 since long time, it work pretty ok. My windows side, as it's application specific i never updated it and turn off all updates as well.
                      But few annoying stuff :
The HDMI video level is not the same : in android : it's way to bright and in Win it's ok. Is there a setting in android or so to do ??

And i haven't find out to properly root the android section. Which version might work ? And is the only way is to go via usb.. ?

                      thanks

Mine came rooted already. Did you check for root? If not, try towel root.

                          Hello,
Stock Pipo X8, with windows 10 upgrade. I have tried to switch from windows to Android (with the stock .exe) and out of nowhere the tv box entered in a loop with the PIPO logo. Now I can't start neither Android nor Windows. It's stucked in a loop. Any advices? Thank you

[SOLVED] - Changing in BIOS the Boot Order and booting from a Recovery disk, solved the problem. The chalenge was to make it boot from the USB Recovery drive made on my laptop, not prior made on Pipo device. But, all in all, it worked.

I have received my 64g X8 after a friend had updated the windows to 10.
Once I got it home I switched it to Andriod just to see how it went and now when I restart it, it boots up in Andriod.

My question is how can I switch back to windows?

                            Thank you
