    Hi there,
I copied the 3 files at the root of an sd card, in Update &Backup, I selected the easyroot.zip file (no unplug-replug part), clicked Update... and it installed root to my mx/tronsmart! that's all ☺
Super Easy root method! Thank you 😍

has anyone succesfully used this on a T95. I downloaded a newer firmware than my device has and it had the ezroot.zip in the compressed file. I bricked an m8 trying to root as it wiped my bootloader after i used a recovery.img file to bypass the signature not found error.

          Hello tronsfreak, Welcome to Freaktab.
Finless' ez-root is a nice bit. Finless also has some great Android and Remix OS custom ROMs.
With Finless' ROMs and rooter, Abdul_pt's TWRP and balbes150's OpenELEC and Linux variants, the S95 has become a versatile little box.
          Cheers.

i tried the ez-root on my ibox with the s905 proccessor and it froze up on reboot i let it sit for about 10 minutes and nothing happened so i tried to reboot it again and now i get no response from the tv box.
what i would like to know is if i jump the gun and did not give it enough time to reboot on its own.
i am getting another ibox on warranty so before i kill another tv box i thought i should ask

"We need to boot the recovery you put on SDcard not the internal recovery or the ezroot.zip will fail signature"
what does it mean? coz i keep getting failed till now

Hello Ariel, Welcome to Freaktab. Once you have the 3 files(see below) on the SD card, insert into the box. Boot to Android and open the Update and Backup app. Under the "Local" section, click select, locate ezroot.zip, select it and click update.
The box will reboot, once back to Android, you should find the box to be rooted.
                Cheers.

NOTE: These are the files that should be on the card when you do this.
"Unzip the minix_u1_ezroot.zip and put the 3 files on a SDcard.
                ezroot.zip
                recovery.img
                factory_update_param.aml"

Newbie here so please be gentle. Can I use a USB flash drive instead because I don't have an SD card. Thanks.

Hello brakes, I have not used a flash drive for this. But I think it should work. The Update and Backup app can run updates from a flash drive, so I assume ezroot will work as well.

It might be a good idea to not have a bunch of other files on the flash drive when trying this.
                          Cheers.

Will this work on all S905 boxes? I have the MXQ Pro+, which is not rooted.

Thanks Trebor! I have successfully rooted my MXQ Pro+ box. I initially had trouble when I used an SD card that had a bunch of other files on it. But once I switched to an empty SD card, and formatted it to FAT32, it worked flawlessly. I still have trouble getting Google Play Store to work in this box, but that's another story.
