So how to fix the hdmi screen scaling. Ideally this should be done by changing the kernel source code , but as strauzo thinks that the GPL does not apply to him we will have to do it through init.d now you are probably thinking that this has been tried before and did not work.

Now we all know this does not work

    echo xscale=95 yscale=95 > /sys/devices/virtual/display/display0.HDMI/scale

The question is why doesn't it, and the answer is simple, when I looked in the source code of the kernel I found that they had changed a few things, you see everything created in sys folder comes from the kernel, so now the correct line is

    echo 95 > /sys/class/graphics/fb0/scale

and to easily scale down your display just download this http://www.cloudstor.es/file/m1_NDk0MQ/ and put it in system/etc/init.d and reboot

I would just like to add here that I believe that everything can be solved by working together and not against each other. when developers share information with each other things get fixed a lot faster, and means that you the end user gets a better experience

      i do.
      so please "don't spread stupidity"!!!

Interestingly any firmware that I've tried from your R-K42 on my T428had Ethernet working. Did not replace anything, booted it directly up, and while BT and WiFi was no-go, Ethernet was established actually a bit faster than on stock firmware. If it works one way, it works the other way too.

Actually, if there was a separate daemon for HDMI management (hdmimgrd maybe? It has to be written though), and added as root, it would be possible to have an Android app modifying props (sys.hdmi.scale, sys.hdmi.resolution, etc.), to what this daemon would respond by editing the matching files. Sounds simple, and if I knew enough C/C++ (what I hate), we could have an app that can properly set resolution and scaling, without the requirement of root.

k-r42 have build in ethernet and its not working the way you think.
i usualy dont get angry on users but you shouldn say that it will work if you dont have actual device
and base your coments on asuptions when saying something like "don't spread stupidity"
ofcourse external usb to ethernet should work but will you buy external if there is alredy ethernet in your box.

        echo xscale=95 yscale=95 > /sys/devices/virtual/display/display0.HDMI/scale

if i remember corectly it was working in 4.1.1, so they change it now?:"

Well given that the T428 has NO Ethernet port, the only solution is via USB. If you come to the forum where there's a specific hardware, don't expect others to work with yours. Of course I will say the USB Ethernet works, as it is NOT built-in in our devices, and it works with the included adapter.

It was changed, under 4.2 the devices/display0.HDMI has no control over scaling, it is done in the framebuffer. And it is a stupid change (by my opinion, what if you have multiple outputs with the same framebuffer?).

Well for sure the Nexus rom can be ported on all rk3188 devices, and i suggest to all developer to port the nexus rom in your device.

              i can't have all models

This is only a friend suggestion. I'm very very happy with this rom. and I have had many android hdmi sticks / tv box.

              2 allwinner a10, 2 rk3066 , 1 rk3188, 1 amlogic M6

Well now that we have the SDK, we can make some CM10.1/AOKP/etc. magic happen Already began assembling some CM-compatible device tree, but damn this Chinese code makes me puke...

Have tested both strauzo and phjandersons kernel with the minix rom. USB Ethernet works but built in does not even after ins modding rtl8150.ko. Also, power light doesn't work and 1080p playback is quite bad - I tested using an 8gb mkv and it stuttered horribly using both kernels but 720p plays perfect. - I do not mean to offend anyone by this post -

If possible, we are interested on how work the nexus rom sdk2 multi-windows without any modification on the minix x7

It should work very well. But if it no so, in september for sure i want make an excellent rom also for mini x7

For the Ethernet, insmodding the module won't work, the core onboard Ethernet stuff is disabled in these kernels. Though I haven't looked into it yet, I suppose it is only one or two kernel config switches.
For the power light, it is another quirk of the RK31 boards. But as our colleague thesawolf commented yesterday, it is easily fixed now that the SDK sources are out.
FullHD playback problems might be related to the different board, or the ROM itself. But don't worry, we are getting there soon enough!
