OK, THIS TIME IT WORKED!

I have downloaded wasser-firmware-kr42-new-1.0.3.img
from http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...-Android-4-4-2
installed and tested. It works fine, showing well 1080P movies from my LAN, using mx-player on both HDMI and A/V (and this is the main purpose for me).

Wasser XBMC looks nice, and starting fast. However it does not communicate with the remote controller in mouse mode, making it impossible to enter texts.

In fact the remote controller is less functional here in comparison with the original stock firmware, as most of the buttons are not doing anything.

But I do not want to complain. The device is working and streams movies with much better visual quality than before.

So to summarize (in case someone else reads this) --- there are so many variations for the K-R42.
First one has to find out what is the exact device, by opening the cover (4 screws at the bottom below
the rubbers) and comparing PCB to photos in this forum. Then pick the correct firmware for this device, and install with RKbatch. This took me overall ~8 hours. So it is somewhat challenging, and one must enjoy overcoming this challenge otherwise not try this :-)

Which firmware version and kernel for TV with 480p resolution?

I have an old LCD TV with a maximum support of 480p and hoping that lewy's HFW will support my TV.

I am going to install HFW v1.2.0 (Stable)
Do i need to flash the kernel-480p-19092013.zip and is this kernel compatible with HFW v1.2.0?

1) First you need do reboot windows with driver signature disabled: configure->change pc settings-> update & recovery -> recovery-> advanced startup -> troubleshoot -> advanced options -> restart -> 7

2) After reboot, go to folder where is windows 8 rockchip driver: right click on rockusb.inf and click install.

THEN:
1. Connect your device to the computer in flash mode. The computer will say “USB Device Not Recognized”. Go to Device Manager and you will see your device listed as “Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)” in “Universal Serial Bus controllers” section

2. Now in “Universal Serial Bus controllers” section you should also have “USB Root Hub”’s (might be several of them). Click through them and find the one that has “Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)” in the “Power” tab (should be next to General).

3. Right click on that “USB Root Hub” and press “Disable”. Now you should have a small arrow pointing down on the USB Root Hub icon and the “Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)” should have disappeared.

4. Now you have to go to the folder where the RKBatchTool is located on your system. Find the file "config.ini" and open it. Find the section where it says:

Save the file and open the RKBatchTool as usual and you should see the green square in Connected Devices.

Now you will be able to flash the rom. The flashing process might take longer than usual but it works."

Good afternoon. Where in the settings TV-bpx there is an item disable the request pin code? VPN set up on the TV-box, android has requested to pin code, now permanently when installing - update application requests to the code helping to disable it. To Settings - Security - no of paragraph off the pin - code.

I can't install drivers for my KR42 (non Bluetooth version, model EKB311) on various Win 7 pc's i tried.

I followed all instructions on how to manually set the .inf file to load but it keeps getting the "the folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver..."

I've tried different versions of drivers too. It's frustrating cause the unit after some time of inactivity is booting on recovery menu and somehow i have to fix it...

Problem was solved when i connected the player with a different USB cable...yes, that simple.

Support for CS918 - XT-Q7V-V10

Hi! I got a CS918, opened the case and board is a XT-Q7V-V10 2014-08-15.

Does this ROM work with my board? I tried rooting it with the TPSharky method, but I couldn't, that's why I'd like to flash it with a custom ROM already rooted.
