I just thought I would share my story.

My misfortune started why I updated my hd18t s2 box with a droidplayer firmware.

After the update it would not start, however I could get into a recovery mode from sd card without a problem. The updates did nothing, even the 1.1.5 matricom sd card trick.

I even tried the shorting of pins even though I didn't know which chip was the nand, and of course that did nothing for the box (it should have died).

So I thought there must be a better solution. After a little digging (in the endless wisdom of the forms on freaktab) I noticed the aml_autoscript can do a lot of cool stuff.

So this is what I did.

Installed uboot-tools to my fav linux distro.

Then created a text file (f.ex bootloader.txt) with this content:

    Code:
    mmcinfo
    fatload mmc 0 82000000 u-boot.bin
    nand rom_protect off
    nand scrub
    nand rom_write 82000000 0 60000
    nand rom_protect on
Then executed the following command on the file:

    Code:
    mkimage -A arm -O linux -T script -C none -d bootloader.txt aml_autoscript
I copied the newly created aml_autoscript to my sd card.

Then I copied bootloader.img from the newest update of my box from here http://pan.baidu.com/share/home?uk=2...ategory/type=0

renamed it u-boot.bin and copied to my sd card.

I then inserted the sd card to the eny hd18t s2 box and started it with the recovery pin pressed down. Waited a few minutes (screen still showed nothing).

Then I power of the box and removed the sd card.

I am pretty sure this is where the box gets ready to accept updates.

So I updated with the matricom 1.1.5 firmware and behold the box booted on its own.

Then I updated to the newest update for the box and now it's working as expected( power/standby/ everything).

I don't think it's the 1.1.5 that did the trick ... prolly it would have worked with the newest update for my box.

    Cheers,
    OB
so bascially you used all the contents of the magic sd card but modified the param file and added a bootloader.txt to initiate afterwards.

Was the images you sent from the matricom 1.1.5 or did you flash with something else??

Here is the sd image. Just unpack the contents on an sd card, start your box with the av button pressed and wait a few minutes. Then update your box with 1.1.5 matricom firmware (or something else not sure if it works though).

No it's a different kind of file than the update param file. It needs to be cooked with the linux tool.
And I only used the bootloader.img from the update firmware, which I renamed to u-boot.bin.

Ok, i think its done something because i took a box that would not recover with any means and it seems of woken it up....i will explain what i did to get it to work as i needed to do a number of combinations for it to take

first try i removed all the files from the magic sd card and stuck just these 2 files from our friend who posted the nice zip file above.....

The system booted into a recovery mode (as it does with my magic sd stick anyways) - from this point i took the sd out and stuck in my firmware (lets say the 1.1.5 image file) - it flashes with errors saying aborted and the rest confirming a unsuccessful flash.

I tried flashing again with usb - same thing again (used a number of firmware - made no difference)

              what worked...............

booted magic sd card with just the 2 files in the zip (booted recovery)
then removed the sd card and removed the 2 files from zip and added back all the files again from the 1.1.5 magic sd card and powered off the system.
Holding recovery button down i powered on the system and it started flashing (as it does with these files). Waiting about 10-15 mins and it finished.
I removed the sd card out powered off the system and powered back on......i saw the matricom screen which i then realised the box has come back from the dead.

From this point to go back to the MBOX firmware (which in my oppinion is better (ver 20140903) i had to remove the 1.1.5 magic files and replace them with param, recovery and zip file from mbox and repeat the recovery process otherwise it wont install as an upgrade over the matricom firmware.

Between steps i kept on wiping data /clearing cache (this must be done to make sure no files remain before flashing anything

hope you have as much luck as i did and thanks again Dexstar for your discovery with the linux boot files im sure it will help many people unbrick their box without the need of a UART connection or NAND programmer

              thanks again

Blue Light on with No display on the Tv screen - MX2 - Amlogic 8726 - MX HD 18 v 2.22 PCB

                  Hi all,

I have Amlogic 8726 bases MX2 (dual core) bought from ENY HD 18 v 2.22 PCB (Manufactured by Shiningstar) which I used for couple of days and then all of sudden when I turned on,, It shows no display on the screen however the blue light on the box turns on when the box is turned on and even when I press power off from the remote control it does turns off (the light turns off).

I tried to flash the orignal firmware again 2 times and also have tried Benni's idiot proof method of fixing the device with Matricom firmware 1.1.5 as well.

I did noticed that when I would install any firmware, I could see the Android guy (Green guy) and it will show me recovery options as well however as soon as the installation finishes and the box restarts,,, again I see no display on the screen.

I hope some one can help me. I have read somewhere that this could be fixed by Uart method, but I am not sure how does that work...

This is the small video of the problem https://www.dropbox.com/s/z75tu6tezt..._0944.MOV?dl=0

Can some one kindly let me know or can anyone share a video tute?

                  Thanks

There is no need for the uart method... try the method described on page 15 of this thread.

Ok thanks for sharing and i have read all your posts now so basically I download your zip file (which you shared on page 16) and put those 2 files on SD card and start the box in recovery mode.

Once the box is in recovery mode, can i just take the SD card out and insert SD card again with MBOX firmware or shall I just put in Matricom's firmware 1.1.5 (please advise as you are the expert here)?

Is that ok or am I missing something?

                      Thanks

I am no expert ... I just shared how I got my box back from the dead,

You need to power off the unit before you do the 1.1.5 update.

So start with the 2 files on the disk in recovery ... wait a few minutes ( the screen will be black like nothing is happening). Then power off the unit and do a regular flash with f.ex. the matricom 1.1.5.

                        hope this helps.
