Special SD card image makes your TV BOX (*) a Matricom G-Box Midnight MX2 TV Box device (ROM DATE = 9th of August 2013).

        * = is following
        G18REF
        G02REF
        MX2REF
        HD 18 v2.2
        HD 18 v2.21

        1gb / 8gb AML8726MX / Meson 6 / M6

It is very simple to install, just insert a 4gb or larger SD CARD into Windows PC, use this program to set up the card: http://hddguru.com/software/HDD-Raw-...02Portable.exe

Then use the extracted sd card image file (of your choosing) as a source and set a target to your sd card (4 gb), it writes the image, close the HDD RAW COPY program and eject the card (SAFELY - choose eject from PC, right click menu + eject).

        FILE: Matricom image Matricom Midnight G-BOX MX2 v1.1.5+ image (August 9th, 2013)

WARNING: THIS METHOD WILL ERASE EVERYTHING FROM YOUR MX BOX AND INSTALL A NEW ROM. USE AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION.

Matricom image (Android 4.2.2): OTA works for XBMC etc
        - Make sure MX device is powered off and power cable removed.
        - Insert SD card you just created.
        - Insert a match or a toothpick to reset hole - you will feel a click. (AV hole in the back)
        - Power on the MX box by inserting power cable, while holding the match in the reset hole.
        - It will boot to recovery and start installing ROM.
        - After finishing it will give 2 errors - these do not matter.
        - Remove power cable and insert it again, the device will boot as MATRICOM MIDNIGHT G-BOX MX2

THIS IMAGE WILL ALSO UNBRICK THE DEVICE.

-paulschalkwijk I have tried many different firmwares, Prometheus, matricom, mx but neither have worked. For each firmware there are 3 files, recovery, factory and a zip file.

I also tried writing u-boot.bin and then created a partition using mini partition wizard to add firmware and this also failed.

what am I doing wrong and what else can I try?

i'm not sure what you are doing wrong as you are not giving very detailed information.

currently, can you boot into recovery?

when using the tooth-pick method, sometimes it can take up to 60s before reaching the android maintenance man

              Hi

without sd card inserted nothing happens just get no signal on TV but with sd card inserted then it does go into recovery but me pressing reset button in av hole does not make a difference.

What I am saying is when holding reset nothing happens it does not go into recovery but with sd card inserted it does go into recovery.

Does your remote work when in recovery?
if not, try booting recovery with a usb-keyboard attached.
when in recovery, remove the sd-card (leave the mediaplayer on) and format it.
add the prometheus firmware, and re-insert into the mediaplayer (that should still be turned on and in recovery).

use your remote/keyboard to navigate to update from ext en select the prometheus firmware.
                    hopefully it will install

Yes remote works fine when in recovery. But the Prometheus firmware I have won't install and is always aborted and gives me errors and not the efuse and mac errors.

I have tried as you stated but still no luck.

                          BOOT LOOP OF DEATH

Hi everyone, ok so i want to add my contribution after reading the entire thread.

I dont know if my problem is the same as these last few posters who have detailed the android box to be in this black screen mode with blue light.

My problem is the same as most - switch on the unit -> no display -> blue light on the box -> does not detect any usb devices.

I create the special SD card (with every single image found on the net = matricom, acemax, IPTV18) and the box boots fine into the recovery screen (cwm). It will then automatically start to flash the firmware and it seems as it is working wel (takes about 5-10 mins to complete). I get 2 errors at the end one about the efuse mac address and another one. I restart the box and it goes again into the same process of flashing. I get at the beginning of every restart a red colour appear on the screen followed by a white flash then the flash process starts.

I think for some reason my NAND has become corrupt or the sd card cant create partitions for the box to boot properly. I dont get the A9 logo or any display with or without the sd card inserted.

Anyone can give me a theory to try or do i have to invest in a UART method (if so what do i need to do the UART method? has anyone done this successfully yet?)

                          thanks

I think your problem is to do with something blocking he firmware from starting and needs clearing in h cache. I would go an check how to make that special smart SD CARD with the U-BOOT files etc and the special tool which formats the SD into a4gb boot disk. Once you see recovery load up jus click on clear cache then remove the SD CRD and reboot. Yours should be ok after that

I just need someone to explain the UART process - the cables used (I tried making one and I got some activity on my pc but I got stuck after that) but is there any software for armlogic etc etc to help flash firmware or drivers to get the thing detected on pc
