    Remote

I use air keyboard for the ipad. Install autostart to get it to start. For xbmc I use the official remote on the AppStore which is fantastic!! I also have a wireless keyboard/mouse from **** for 12 quid which is good (http://item.mobileweb.****.co.uk/vie...id=40954556047)

      Not good

Having been initially happy with the mx2 rom.... Not anymore! It is not Woking well at all. Airpin pro is bad, stuttering and cutting out. XBMC is not very good?? Anyone with any good suggestions why I shouldn't drop kick this MX box to touch? Bah humbug

maybe best to reflash it I wouldn't swap my MX box for anything else currently available - still the best option for XBMC.

          Hi Rotorgoat

Since this thred began things have moved on and i think the best two options for the MX2 are now Matricom FW 1.1.6 for Android or the latest offical release RC1 for Linux from xda devlopers site. you will not be disipointed with either. you can download and install them via the toothpick method.
I have been using Matricom fw1.1.6 since it was released and it is 99% stable. so try them both and find which suits you best. There is nothing wrong with the hardware it runs XBMC with ease.
Have a great Christmas to all.

          Toothpick method =
          1) Put Firmware on SD card and place in MX2 Slot. (there should be 3 files on the card)
          2) Find reset button down inside AV hole keep pressed. (with toohpick) and apply power.
          3) Count upto six and let the reset button go. (it may take a few times to get it right)
          4) The Firmware should start to load and flash the MX2. (give it plenty of time to finnish).

            Thanks

            Hi Knobhound
thanks for getting back to me. I loaded the mx2 1.1.4b using the two files resetting boot then the three file mx2 rom. Now it's on 1.1.4b do I have to flash 1.1.5 first?
            Thanks again

You have to use the 1.1.5Pre Firmware before you can update to 1.15 then to 1.1.6 using the OTA app that is in android. Read here it tells you how its done and all firmware's can be downloaded from here.
Find the most reliable customer support for you G-Box and G-Pads online. Access Matricom forums, the help desk, warranty info, firmware updates and more.

Or just download FW1.1.6 and flash it using the above toothpick method. Good luck.
Note: all further updates will be by the "Over The Air" app

Anyone had issues with selecting options in CWM Recovery mode? I have one...
                I have got a G18REF (HD18 V2.22) box like this: http://goo.gl/7KDT39
Installed Matricom Midnight G-BOX MX2 v1.1.5+ according to BenniBenassi's guide and booted from the CWM (cwmbydaemonium.zip) to enter recovery mode.

Everything seems fine except i can't select options because i have no physical power button. Can loop through the menu with the switch in A/V port but thats all. I have a remote which comes with the device and only the power button works in CWM recovery. It shuts down the device. The remote works well in other (stock and other rooted) ROM's recovery menu.

Any advice appreciated i have no idea what to try.
                Thank you in advance,

                  Upgraded

                  Hi there
I was on 1.1.4b. I loaded the 1.1.5pre and upgraded OTA to 1.1.5. This failed the first time, then worked the second. I then tried Ethernet which worked but then trying wireless it wouldn't work, I did turn off Ethernet.
I then installed an xbmc (as there wasn't one included) from droidtv.net I think which said it was for 1.1.6. It worked ok but then froze with no menu options. Just the wallpaper and blank weather, pictures, videos etc. like it was corrupt.
I then switched off and on..... Froze on gbox sign and didn't go any further?? I then flashed 1.1.6 which I'm running now and it seems ok so far?? I'm wondering if my boot rom is broken?
                  Any thoughts?

                    New ROM format AML8726-MX

Guys, I got a new Jynxbox M6 (Same as the Genitech TV500 and MyGica TV400).
This uses a new ROM format.

                    cat /proc/mtd
                    dev: size erasesize name
                    mtd0: 00400000 00400000 "logo"
                    mtd1: 00800000 00400000 "boot"
                    mtd2: 20000000 00400000 "system"
                    mtd3: 1f400000 00400000 "cache"
                    mtd4: 12c00000 00400000 "backup"
                    mtd5: 60000000 00400000 "userdata"
                    mtd6: 4ac00000 00400000 "NFTL_Part"
                    mtd7: 00008000 00001000 "ubootenv"

Just some info for you and some scary stuff!

Boot.img is not of Android format but I did figure it out and get it unpacked.
/system and /data are in UBIFS format not EXT4.

Because of all this I am very afraid to ever replace boot loader or recovery. If I did and the SDcard recovery method doesn't work, this box will be dead!

I am sure since it is a AML8726-MX that the box "might" be able to completely flash to the old format but it's just too scary to try... Then could you ever go back?

CWM I think would be out of the question too due to the format differences though if I ever get brave, I might see if I can make a CWM that works. Again though screwing with recovery.img without a know SDcard recovery is just too scary

Much more to learn about this new ROM format even though I have now made a custom ROM for this box

"Perdona loro perché non sanno quello che fanno"
"Vergib ihnen, denn sie wissen nicht, was sie tun"
"Vergeef hen want ze weten niet wat ze doen"
"Pardonne-leur car ils ne savent pas ce qu'ils font"
"Perdónalos porque no saben que lo que hacen"
"Oprosti im, jer ne znaju Å¡to čine"

These 2 files will give you a stock rom for the MX2 which will repair the recovery partition and put it back to day 1 state , then you can start all over again .!!!

Yes as this is the Firmware that is shipped with the so called MX2 clone. (Note "MX2 clones" come for the same factory as the Matricom MX2 oridignal !!!).

Thanks for that. It's good to have the original for booting. I think the problem may be that I have flashed about 8 different firmwares in as many days. Some good, other not so good. It's amazing the difference in performance with these firmwares when the hardware it's the same????
