This issue is very specific :
    It is

    1. Box freezes - Sometimes with Audio "Buzz", screen freezes randomly in any app.
    2. Box can freeze when only the Launcher is active from start, just by moving about the launcher (L, R, UP, DOWN)
    3. Box can crash and will not re-boot with Remote - Requires a Power Cycle (OFF-ON)
    3. Box has SEC 5.1 chip KLMAG1JENB - B041 (Probably not any other eMMC - No Kingston or Samsung 5.0 reported with this specific issue to my knowledge)
    4. Update using OEM Update App and OEM provided .zip Firmware causes catastrophic boot failure to a Screen Freeze/+Buzz within mere seconds of all Power On actions post update.

    This issue is NOT
    1. Overheating
    2. Stuttering playback
    3. Messages saying X App has Stopped.
    4. Crashes to Standby that allow a simple restart with the Remote Control Power Button
    5. Boxes Bricked or Borked by incorrect flashing (Cables, settings, inappropriate FW, etc.)
    6. App X not performing as it does on a different box, etc.
    7. etc.
    Nice summation.

Agrees with the same findings from countless users on other non Freaktab forums as well.

I've now advised people on other Forums to NOT buy M8S Pro+ boxes and be very wary about other MECOOL products too from now on - unless the Manufacturer (Videostrong) starts sorting this problem out with all the M8S Pro+ box sellers for real easy end user refunds or replacements.

Ill ask someone we know to see if they will confirm this. (Thats the most difficult part) I think Id still like to see one of the affected boxes. I missed batch number so if its bricked and in that batch in canada. Send me a message work something out to get one.
Yes, nice and easy to get into at least.
My bad box is in UK I'm afraid.

Perfect. Exact chipset my three boxes here.. And all now running fine after the mod to the cpu
Your boxes are SEC 652 so not in the suspicious set.

Agree manufacturer input would be good.

Agree heat a big (different) issue. I have one box that needs some attention as it runs at 85C/185F at times, and that is asking for trouble.
Decent Arctic Silver epoxy on way ....
plus may have to do mod like you also .........

    7. etc.

Only some chips from specific SEC Batch Codes seem to be affected - SEC 701 to 713.
The Batch Number does not indicate a certainty of having the issue.
There may also be other SEC numbers affected.
The original installed at factory FW 20170829, and FW 20170815 have been reported present - Again does not indicate certainty of issue (+some people do not note the original FW loaded on their box)
The original installed at factory FW 20170829 has never been released as a .zip or .img by the OEM.
Restoring to the originally installed factory FW may restore the initial state of the box (this will probably still have any freezing issue, but will at least load past the First Use app screen).

Tieri no i haven't done anything yet, just downloaded 3-4 apps like Opera but it's freezing. A lot of people tell me to open the device to look after the chip, but i'm affraid that would void my warrenty ....but i think is not necessary because all of the guys with the same BuildNo, which bought from Gearbest hast the faulty eMMC SEC713 (and the info from a emmc app tells me also that it is a Samsung chip (AJNB4R)

Just hold device in your hand during high loads if you feel heat through bottom pretty good clue its poor heat sink paste.

If your box is running the stock firmware and you have not done any modifications to it. I would suggest you first contact Gearbest support for advice/replacement/refund. They may take couple of days to reply. If you can't get hold of them, then you can ask politely in the Grearbest support thread here.

If you have flashed your box you should first try to flash back the stock firmware and see if it helps.

If you have made some modifications or void your warranty in some other way. You could try to solder serial header to your box and check the serial debug output. It could also be the heat sink is not seated on properly as it appeared to be case in scooter2014 box, few post above. If you have an infrared thermometer, it should be relatively easy to open the box up and measure temperatures of motherboard, underneath the CPU, and the heat sink. If there is huge difference, it would suggest your heat sink is not in good contact with your CPU.

I bought my Mecool from Gearbest on 12th september, shipped 23th sep.

eMMC App says: AJNB4R (it's a Samsung according to google)
    BuildNO: NMF26Q 20170815.182813.V0321

I have regular freezings, crashes and every time "google play services stopped working" massage

Do i have the bad chip/batch??

    What can i do?

I know it is meant for PC, but in the description it says that works with Android 4.1 and above. I am not sure if it does, cause i have read this new model is not supported by the linux pc kernel yet: "Link removed, because my posts won't go trough otherwise!"

May be for Android it will be different.

Has anyone tried that Mygica USB TV Tunner ?
"I already made a lengthy response yesterday, but it vanished somehow. So here goes again." Third time is the charm. I had to remove the links from the quote, otherwise these get stuck in the spam filter or something. Real PITA...

I have some experience with that TV-stick. I have set up a Raspberry Pi 2, running LibreElec with Mygica T230c. My tech invalid father has been very pleased with it. Mygica T230c works great with LibreElec media build branch. I am not sure if the images made by kszaq for the S905(X) are using the media build branch of LibreElec. You should really ask him, but he is on holiday atm. and won't probably be back at least in a week. There may be other enlighten persons in the LibreElec forum that can answer this question. What comes to Android DVB-tuner support, to my understanding, it is close to non-existent atm. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I am trying to get my K1-T2 (S805) box with DVB-tuner to work in LibreElec, if I can't, I am going to use my Mecool M8S Pro+ with Mygica T230c to replace the Raspberry Pi2 in my fathers setup as it is needed elsewhere. If I have to go down that route, and I am successful, I can make some kind of instructions/tutorial how to do it, but it's going to be, in the earlies, end of this week, when I am going to visit my father.
Also, if I have to use the Mecool M8S Pro+ in my fathers setup, I am sadly unable to provide anymore serial logs and do testing to help solve this issue with the effected batch. Naturally I can test the Mygica, even if I get the K1-T2 working.

It will be nice if this box will be able to support USB TV tuners. I'm also eyeing for a ISDB-T TV tuner compatible in my country.

    Please update your progress.

Temps reduced now running smooth no studder or freezes so those having them might want to redo the heat sink attachment. That in it self will reduce heat transfer to lower board.
I also noticed the heating issue. I had an extra PC cpu fan. Converted the wires to USB plug to one of its USB port and place it under the TVBox. Working nice until now.

Maybe I will try to put the heat sink like the one you did later on since I do not have a heat sink and thermal glue at the moment. For some energy saving? I guess?

Btw, is your box in the lucky or unlucky "faulty" batch?
