I use the Harmony Hub, and I emulate the Nexus Player remote (which is Bluetooth). It doesn't have a Power button, but it does have Play/Stop.

If you have another power supply with the right little connecter you could try it to see if it helps at all, but not another Mecool with the same number! I find one model number version affects connections badly for me. I've posted a pic of the bad one somewhere ....
Could just be the wi-fi chip though ?

If so, you will need a wifi bridge.

The first v0619 OEM FW was standard Android if memory serves so if you just want the nearly latest OEM and not ATV that is the one to try

I'm having terrible luck with these boxes and I kind of feel weird asking gearb for another refund (or at least partial refund). sigh...

I guess I will have to sideload the normal Android app I want, rendering the Play store useless.

The back to other releases to get standard android Doh.... Nice so u would have to go to release prior to that one then.... But side load and repo to install icons works too so thats always an option.

My box is on the stock ROM, build 20170919.150557.V0619. It seems Mecool has switched to ATV Play Store like Magendanz said. I guess I will have to sideload the normal Android app I want, rendering the Play store useless.

Actually, the stock ROM in this latest V0619 release is also Android TV...mostly. It claims ATV features in /etc/permissions and uses the Google Play Store for Android TV, but doesn't use the Android TV Launcher (Leanback Launcher).
