    Pipo M9 Max 4.2.2 RileyROM 1.8 [Feedback]

Here it is, a ROM based on the 7/31/13 firmware release using SDK 2.0

I have not tested this to see, but based on timing...this ROM may contain Pipo's new Multi-Window feature. I still need confirmation on this.

This time, we are back to having both 3G and Non-3G (wifi) versions.

This ROM is for the M9 Max "New PCB" tablet only...I have a 1.6 version for the "Old PCB" tablet and a ROM for the M9 Pro version with the higher screen resolution. There has been some confusion about the various versions of the M9...so I hope this clears things up.
Be careful to flash the correct ROM, or you risk bricking your device.

    This ROM is:

    Rooted
    Debloated
    Init.d Support
    CWM Recovery default (from Fun)
    Stock Recovery available
2,4,6,8,10 or 12gb user app space choices
    Busybox command links installed
Some speed/battery saving tweaks in build.prop
Multiple Google Play Store fixes to allow for more compatibility

    Installed, couple of things:

    1. No boot animation after freaktab book image, for a while I thought my tablet was bricked because screen blank for a while, but it works fine.

    2. Can't find multi-window feature, unless I don't know where to look?

    3. Antutu scores higher than ver 1.7 3g.

    cheers.

I'm at a loss here. The new m9 tablet with a better screen is the Pro version, whereas the older version is the Max, right?
Thanks a lot for this new ROM,Riley. Guess I'm gonna wait a while before I flash it. Would like to see some feedback on battery life and whether or not there is any screen flickering issues... pr0zen, have you tried this one? As I recall, you also had occasional flickering, right?

P.S. - Just confirmed. My version is indeed the Max with the new PCB...

No screen flicker at any brightness level... not even when I use screen filter to lower it further...

Thanks for the feedback, fztt. Please do tell whether you ever experienced flickering with any of the previous ROMs. Just asking because only a few people suffered from those issues (like pr0xZen and me). Hence my need to get feedback from someone who has experienced such issues in the past.
Also, I believe there should be a boot animation. Have you figured that one out?

Mine never flickered before. Nope, the boot animation is missing but doesn't affect installation, just don't panic when screen goes blank for a long while... put in my own animation using rom toolbox, can't stand the blank screen Anyway, battery life more or less same as 1.7 3g, been using a few hours oredi... but no multi-window I think

Instructions for changing the parameter file is in both the readme file and in the First Time Users Guide.

Rename the file called "parameter" to "parameter2". Then rename the one you want to "parameter". Without an extension.

I edited post #1 to hopefully clear up the confusion about which version of the tablet this ROM is for.

Since the M9 Pro's are hitting the streets, many new members are confused about which ROM to flash.

Can someone confirm for me...is the multi-window feature included in this ROM? You have to look at settings and see if there is a switch that turns it on. Thanks.

Please be a little more specific about the problem with the boot animation. Which version are you referring to? Wifi or 3G? Do you see the RileyROM badge first...then black screens until the system appears? Or, do you see a black screen for a while...then the boot animation appears? There are two files I load...I just need to know which one has the problem. Is it only on the first boot? I'm still using the same CWM Recovery from previous versions, which might need to be updated.

I did 6 ROMs yesterday, and I must have done something to prevent the animation files from loading correctly. It is an easy fix...I just need to know which one the problem is in. It will be Saturday before I can fix this, though.

In the meantime, just remember...the first boot takes a long time.

Wifi version, badge appear, black screen until launcher appear, no boot animation, every boot, went through every single option in settings several round, no option to enable multi-window.

Thanks. It looks like we have another update looming, then. I'm kind of disappointed to hear that. Hopefully this one has better performance, then.

I will take a look at that one and see what's up with the boot screens.

                        Thanks for the update.

It does benchmark better than 1.7 so I'm quite happy with this till multi-window

WifiDisplay app is pre-installed in this one, was that your addition?

Randy, thanks for all your work. U da man!! Guess I'll wait until saturday for your boot animation fix. I'm guessing a new ROM download will be required, right? Also, is multi-window really that relevant? What will it do? split the screen in half so that you can view two pages or applications at a time?

It is a lot of hype, really. I've been playing around with it on my M8 Pro.

I think it has more use on a tv stick/mini pc than a tablet, because the screens would be big enough to actually see the content of the windows.

It is nice to watch a tv show in a window, while you are looking at Freaktab posts on Tapatalk at the same time...hahaha...since I never have time to watch tv....otherwise.

I'm still learning all of the controls.
