I'm glad to hear you got it working!!!!!

I just ordered a new laptop yesterday with Windows 8 on it. I was thinking of running a VM on it for both Linux for ROM cooking and Windows XP for flashing. It is nice to know it can be done. I'm looking forward to trying. The good thing about doing it with a VM is that if you mess up the drivers, you can just delete and start over.

Of coarse, it will be after I try loading the drivers on Windows 8....wish me luck!!!!!! It will be me trying to follow my First Time User's Guide...hahahaha!!!!!!

      Have fun with that.

I was hoping the the updated rom would have the patches included that fix the app-store bugs, but now both holes are open instead of just one.

The Bluebox Security Scanner will detect if these bugs have been patched.
      They are:
      8219321
      9695860

Pipi had patched one of them in the factory rom.

      Thanks
      Randy

Hi, Mr. Riley. Thank you for this wonder of a ROM you've made. I just flashed it today and am enjoying its features so far (though I have yet to discover how to activate the multiple windows. Are they specific to the built-in launcher or can this be done with any 3rd party launcher?).

I did the flashing on my desktop with a Windows 8 64x OS. The drivers installed easily and the entire flashing process went without a hitch.

We discovered that this firmware doesn't have multi windows yet. When it does, you will see a new item on settings that turns it on.

I added the drivers to the flash kit and changed out the boot screens.

            Hopefully that helps.

Someone please try to see if the boot screens are working for me. If not, I'm not sure what's up with them.
Any chance to only have the new bootanimation.zip file? I don't want to reinstall all....even if the CWM would help me, it's too much work for just only one file

              Shure!!!

              Here is the link.

              Bootanimation

You need to open the zip file...within it is another zip file which is the bootanimation. Just rename it bootanimation.zip and copy it to the system/media folder. Give it 755 permissions.

                Brilliant !

                Many thanks

Edit : I unzip the file and found a png file which seems to be the image for the boot. Why did I see the "geekbuying" seller logo here? Are you working with them?

The Geekbuying logo appears on many of our Freaktab ROMs, because besides being a sponsor here, they also provide devices to our developers at a discounted price, in exchange for a logo on the boot screen. It is an affordable way for us developers to have the tools we need to make the ROMs. This is a hobby for all of us, not a business...so every bit of help we can get benefits us all.

I can vouch for Geekbuying...they are a great source. I wouldn't just say that...unless I actually had great experiences. Yes, the products out of China aren't always perfect, but whenever I've had a problem with a device...Geekbuying has stood up and made it right. The boss of Geekbuying, Eric...and I have become good friends, despite being literally on opposite sides of the earth.

Good deal, and I'm not blame you at all, just curious....my M9 comes from geekbuying

They have good prices and seems to be serious, I still haven't tested their support, but I don't want either !

Randy, what's the 755 permissions you mentioned? How do you do that? I mean, how do you grant those permissions?

On an advanced explorer app (ES File Explorer, for example) after you copy the file into it's correct location, go into properties or permissions (depending on which app you use) you will have choices...some of them will tell you the numbers (755).

                          Owner: read-write-execute
                          Group: read-write
                          Public: read-write

The biggie is the execute part. The bootanimation won't run unless you give it execute permission.

                            Thanks for the rom.

All was working well until I tried to use the camera today. It complained about the sd-card being corrupted and in need of formatting. So I went ahead and said OK, even though I know the card was fine, but there was no data on it so no big deal.

Then the PhotoGridWidget crashed and it is now stuck in a loop that I have, so far been unable to stop. I have tripped the "Reset" pin hole button on the back, and held it for 30sec as you do when flashing dd-wrt on a router, all with no joy.

Any idea on how to stop it? I don't want to have to flash it again just to correct that problem.

What file systems will android access on an sd-card? Was thinking that I would do ext4 as I don't care if windows can read it or not.

With the stock rom the camera would work without a sd-card. But 1.8 RyeleyROM seams to not allow that. Anybody else seen that?

                            The testing goes on ;?
                            Thanks

Try formatting The SD card NTFS. That fixes the corruption problem.

                                Hello

Ok let's talk about this rom :

I just flash it on my pipo and i have some questions :

                                1. on the new animation, we can see on the bottom left RimeyRom 1.6 ? is it just a picture problem or it is the 1.6 version of the rom ?

                                2. how can we see that the rockship sdk 2.0 is activate ?
                                3. i saw on the build.props that you put the GT-I9300 (galaxy s3). Can you tel me why you don't let Pipo M9 ? what are the benefit ? could i change it ?

Ok for now the ROM seem's ok and stable.

Antutu with my previous rom say 16800
