Perfect and fast installation with TWRP, the rom + Magisk 14.0 - very smooth installation without any issues
Guest thanks a lot for your great job. Also i have now the TWRP 3.2.1-0 - wonderful. - only the dates are not correct of the backup file-names, but the backup seemed to finish normally in TWRP which i made right now.
See the picture. With the older TWRP 3.1.1 the backup filenames and dates were correct.
I flashed with Magisk 14.0 because some time ago i tried with 14.5 and it did not work, got big problems. Now there is the 15.5 Magisk stable out, someone tried to install it on this box with Magendanz rom?
I am afraid to try without any informations before. You may only view thumbnails in this gallery. This gallery has 3 photos.3 Photos

- Clicking on Vision Settings in the setup wizard will launch an unsupported activity in Settings.

Sadly i don't think that there is a way to run normal play store on ATV boxes, i will try to do it, but probably it is not possible and i don't want to make big changes so i recommend to stick to ATV rom if your box is an ATV box from the start and find some workarounds, for now i know 2 of them: (beside the oblivious one, download apk to pen drive and install on device)
- use google play website on the account you use on the box, this way you can choose to install on it from the website level, BUT, some app maybe incompatible, BUT again, you can change some lines in build.prop to cheat the system and be let say, a samsung phone..
- use this app as a better store https://f-droid.org/packages/com.git...min.yalpstore/ on the box, it has build in account, it doesn't look so nice like normal play store and don't have all those recommended sections, BUT, you can download and install almost any app and it can check for updates just like the normal play version, it is in fact an open source play store version and have also an option to disguise as other supported device, it just works on the box, search, install, done, no pc or other android phone or usb drive needed.
P.S. and if you install Yalp Store be sure to do it thru f-droid as it will also auto update the Yalp Store itself.

r3dcat The app that worked for me was
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...otationcontrol
But it is paid only with 2 day trial so you can test it for free.
Yeah the fix is good, probably you will not even need an app anymore after removing the line from build.prop, but maybe sometimes, for some apps forcing an orientation will be needed, so any app you use, be sure it has "per app" orientation, as there will be probably only single apps that will ever need it.
Since i removed the line i haven't yet seen an app that will not auto rotate to portrait if it is the only mode it supports, it just works.
I dont have this box for long, couple days really, still testing things on the latest OEM firmware, but i also dont want and feel the need to install xposed, way too much, i want to keep things as simple as possible, so when i change the firmware and i probably will change it to superceleron 7.1.2 then i just dont want to have a lot things to change or install a lot of apps, especially those that can brick something by accident (or the twrp install procedure fail/mistake)
There were also many questions about custom launcher, so if anybody is looking for a definitive answer, i have it also.
First of all, the default android tv launcher, google leanback, IT IS BAD, get rid of it ASAP, you will not regret it, never, it has zero customization, zero options really, forced recommendations and others thing you just don't want or like without any possibility to change it and the updated leanback Oreo tv launcher is even worse, trust me. It looks really good on tv, but thats all good it has.
How to get rid of the default launcher without pc usb connected to the box and some hacky commands that not always work? (and without uninstalling it)
Just install this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...d.homeswitcher
Launch it, press hide and then just choose you new launcher that you have installed, just works like charm. (you can go back by unhiding anytime you like)
What custom tv launcher to choose, which is the best one?
They are all bad, really, i have probably TESTED THEM ALL, all recommended here on forums, on yt videos, one way or another they lack things or have bugs, smaller or bigger.
TVlauncher (many versions), ugoos, HAL launcher, kicc.tv, digisender xds, unwind launcher, side load launcher, mlauncher etc. TESTED THEM ALL, still most of them better than google, but ultimately they still lacking a lot of features, more customization options, bad layout (no able to change it), bad control by remote, in time you see those bugs, the tiny one and big ones, crashes, freezes, unexpected behavior, lags, high ram usage, no support for widgets... i just stopped testing the tv launchers after 10 or so.. i have had enough.. so...
What tv launcher you recommend?
Just grab the big ones from android smartphones, supported and known for years, i choose NOVA launcher for now, it just works, every single time, no issues, lags, crashes, many customization options, simple control by remote, widgets, its all you really need and by the fact that those normal launchers are used by a far more people they are also far better supported than the provisory i wound say "tv launchers".
You really don't need that tv look tiles etc. i choose functionality and proven stability above all else and the visuals.
But the best thing is, if you really want those tv tiles just pick up a popular android launcher with custom themes/icons support etc. and with some playing around you will get that and you well be able to save it for later use on a pendrive, most of popular launcher have export/import options, this just proves my words, the "tv launchers" lack such options out of the box.
You just need a launcher that support landscape and that's it. Any big one android launcher that you like and use will be good and a lot better than those "tv launchers".
You can then use any widget you like, so you can make those recommendations to work if you like, from YT, websites, apps...
I hope that this helped someone, but right now im still looking for some other fixes/help for this box, i'm working on:
- visible and working android notifications, they are hidden normally on tv boxes, i can see them by using nova shortcut, but still not quite usable
- android live wallpaper, it doesn't work for me, when i try to choose one it says "application not installed", it looks like something is missing in the system
So if anybody can help me with those things, then please, do.

@tillaz87 yes it does exist and I found it and tried to install it but the xposed installer would not work/installcames up with some error message about rom version not being compatible
EDIT: Ok I installed xposed framework correctly this time. Installed the xposed installer and then flashed the corresponding xposed framework zip with TWRP recovery. To be honest I found my box was running slower and more prone to crashing with xposed installed. I didn't like it, so I decided the build.prop file edit of removing/deleting the "persist.sys.app.rotation=force_land" line was a much neater cleaner solutionLast edited by r3dcat; 05 January 2018, 14:32.

You have said that "some of the "rotation control" apps just work without any changes needed" can you let me know which app has worked for you without having to do his change/edit? I have tried at least 10+ different ones but without this edit none of they worked!
