Any new juicy features or fixes minix didn't fix like the random shutdowns or the NFL game pass app will run without jitters?

Also very disappointed that Minix are not acknowledging the forced shut down issue, their response is that it has never happened on their units, quite obviously lots are having this error, makes me think it could be a HW problem they are are aware of but too late for them to rectify or admit without losing sales.

I have to say though, Minix are leaps ahead of the competition, great product and support on their forum, I feel sure the issues will be dealt with and the X7 is a great buy, no regrets

I have tried to troubleshoot the forced shut down but it is almost impossible as a reboot erases demsg and logcat!

If I get some time I am going to make a script that keep dumping these to sdcard and maybe I can catch what is going on. However with that said I have only had a forced shutdown twice! So unless it happens to me, I wont be able to find it.

Are you guys with the shutdown issues using the Airpin boot?

In this new ROM I am going to remove the launcherNEW crap. I am also going to see if I can remove the unremovable google search bar.

Also google has update some apps as well as Airplay has un update.

As for other stuff cant help with the NFL thing.

This is great news Bob, but shouldn't the name be 1.4.004 to reflect the Minix build it is based off of

I just got a forced shutdown and I'm pretty sure it's due to a read / write process. I was disabling GPS and closing down the settings page, and immediately shot up the email app.. Boom, crashed and shutdown.

                    No Bob, not running Airpin

The issue for me at least comes during bulk data transfer only, last night I had a few too many beers and fell asleep while watching a TV series over MX, woke up this morning and it was still running perfectly. If I run Titanium or restore a XBMC backup though I fear the worst.

I'm not using Airpin & if I use official FW I delete Airpin straight away. Also tried leaving ethernet on as well as WiFi as someone else mentioned but that made no difference. I've tried both official 720p/1080p & Finless 720p/1080p & get shutdowns on all of them however on official FW I get lots of system freezes as well which I don't get on either of the Finless ROMS. So Finless is the better FW to go with as you only get the shutdowns & not the added system freezes as well!

Regarding removing the google search bar, if your using another launcher like NOVA launcher for example it keeps its menus along that bar so removing it causes issues - There's actually an option in NOVA to remove this... I tried it removing the search bar but then couldn't access my apps or settings afterwards so had to delete & reinstall it to default.

As everyone else seems to be mentioning, these shutdowns do all seem to happen when your trying to load/run something. If you just leave it doing nothing it seems to be fine.

Thanks for the hard work Bob it's appreciated!

Hmmm... I am using NOVA and have disabled the Google search box... I can access the NOVA settings thru the menu button on the Minix remote. No need for the onscreen soft buttons (or whatever they are). Makes the screen a whole lot cleaner to have it all gone. Besides the dock icons, I only have a couple of other icons on the home screen... I am definitely minimalist.

Generally I am not having any crashes, but there is one time that my system crashes... EVERY time... not a random crash. After playing a video, from my local server (Serviio), XBMC crashes my system when I exit the program. Since I know this happens, I don't exit, I just hit the home button. Avoids the crash but leaves XBMC in memory (I think)... so every now and then I use ES Task Manager to clean out memory. So I have no random crashes. I am using 12.1 XAF NEON for my XBMC... and MX Player NEON codec pack as my player. And I am using live wallpaper, Shark Reef. I have tried to turn off all notifications... but I still get them, I have not setup email or any phone related stuff (all that seems pointless in a media center box as far as I am concerned).

I run almost the same. No issue at all with current 1.4. I also run I am using 12.1 XAF NEON for my XBMC... and MX Player NEON codec pack as my player and have had no issue with shutdown or stutter. Side note just tried some game loft modern combat 4 gets stuck on download.. left it for 24 hours and no game. Can't install the big games.. I am running the 14gb parm so lots of space.. hmmm

any chance of including stafstroms fix for dts and dd pass through with his patched libmedia and the librkffplayer.

I dont use the Minix remote (it's rubbish - although a lot better than the old one!) I use the Mele F10 Airmouse

Agree that adding the stafstroms patch would be awesome, although I believe it also needs a custom version of XBMC as well ;-)

the libmedia patch for xbmc needs a patched version of xbmc, but as we can compile xbmc with the patch and host a minix version of it, it wouldnt bother me at all if i had pass through

the other lib allows other media players to have pass through the likes of mx player, stock media players, etc
