CX919 - 4.2.2 - Finless ROM 1.5

Could someone post a link to finless bobs flashing tool? I've been searching the forums for awhile now and havn't had any luck maby i'm searching for the wrong thing?

I have installed the Rom with 1080 overclocked to 800mkz. Best rom I have experienced so far.

The good:

video:
Netflix works 100% tested for over 2 hours. No problema!!! Tested XBMC, for what I used it its working fine. I am realy not a fan of this application so do not take my opinion to heart.

Video Conferencing:
My Logitech C170 works 100%. Tried Skype; working 100%. Also tried Hangouts again 100%.

Performance: Being overclocked to 800mhz and stick handled without incidents for hours. Much better than the stock kernel selected by default. No heat issued either.

The Bad:

Hulu Plus does not work. And this is something that the community should work with. Netflix and Hulu are the two most used streaming apps used in the USA. And this sticks main purpose is streaming content to the TV so these two apps are a must. Sorry to say it but Strauzo has it working on his 4.2.2 ROM so I do not think is Hulu's compatibility with Android 4.2.2 the problem. It has something to do with whatever code the Chinese did to android 4.2.2 And also Hulu is working on my Galaxy S4 running 4.2.2 no issues.

Please work this Hulu issue out and for what I am going to be using this CX919 stick; which is streaming and video conferencing over Skype would be 100% working solution.

Again thanks for all the developers that worked on achieving this level of maturity for these RK3188 sticks compared to stock.

PS. Can anybody confirm what other webcams are working with this Rom. I would like to have more resolution than my C170 currently offers.

There is a version of the hulu apk that will work on these sticks as I recall. I know they had it for the rk3066 and I think it worked on rk3188 as well.. either way you can google for the apk and likely still find it.

Still would be nice to make the official Hulu app work. Hey it is working on Strauzo's Rom so it must be something with the factory Rom on 4.2.2. It worked very well on factory 4.1.2. Observing the way how the app works I think it has to be something with the app not being able to play the adds. Because if you do not hit the "ok" button you can hear the program playing in the background. Can it be an ad-blocker on the host file? I have had this exact behavior when adding ad-blockers to any android phone, Hulu stops working because it can not play the adds.

Personally I like 4.1 better.

Please see if the wifi issue is kernel related or not!
Try stock kernels and see if wifi has problems. If it does then I can fix it.

Thanks for the update finless, I tried 2 combinations.

Since I got a 1080p TV I firstly tried the 1080p kernel + 1080p boot image.

The boot image didn't fill up the screen (rikomagic.com) and even the animation.
Performance was kinda bad in my opinion and very slow and the device became hot.
I didn't use any overclocked kernels. And all of a sudden wifi became really slow and streaming wasn't watchable.

Then I tried 720p kernel + 720 boot image and all went well. Fast responsive, xbmc 12.2 worked fine but 720p video from YouTube I noticed some framedrop or whatever you call it. Not unwatchable but sometimes you notice it. SD video works very well.

seems like new kernels have some wifi issues, im waiting for Bobs corrections on that...

how to change volt.fstab

flashed it, and looks good, touchscreen working.
rom setup:
kernel_simson720
boot_720
cwm recovery.

strange thing is when you check storage in the settings it shows sd and external sd fine
but the native explorer and ES Explorer can't acces the internal SD.
external is shows and can be accesed.
even after some reboots its not there.

Am i missing something? (yeah, internal sd )

Update: edited the volt.stab and made the external sd act as internal (got 16gig now).
update 2: logitech c270 cam doesn't work, terratec aureon dual usb works, skype installs but can't make a call, and wifi speed seems slow.

hi.. can u explain how to change the volt.stab? becouse i have a 250 gb connected as usb storage.. can i change that to be sdcard? then i can have many games installed

Having Blank Internal Flash issue with the kernel_stock1080.img

I replaced the kernel with kernel1080.img posted or pointed out by phozac. This has proved to fix it with finless 1.4. Still checking to see if it is good.

That was A premature STATEMENT. The two files are actually identical.

The two files are actually identical. So I don't think the issue is resolved by this kernel. Report back later after replacing with other kernel.

Hello to all,

I am currently using the previous finlees ROM with my CX-919, but have noted that there are some queries about heat problems and slow wifi...

So, I would like to know before flashing this new ROM 1.5 if these little problems (Heat and WIFI) are true or if it's better to wait for a Fix?

Some users also have mentioned, that the 800 version can raise the temperature of the CX-919 and that the 1080 version is a little slow, so which version is better and safely to use, the 720 one?

Stick freezes - Netflix

I use the defaults set by Bob in the flash tool. When watching Netflix, the system freezes after a couple of minutes of movie. Any ideas?

Netflix still has problems on these sticks with 4.2.2. You can use the xposed framework workaround to gain a ton of netflix stability.
