ROM 1.5a is now up

OK the ROM download on the first post here is now updated to 1.5a Read the first post the explains why and what it is but here is the quick version.

Google updated some apps today and yesterday

Google Currents will not work on this ROM. I found I needed a library I did not have in the ROM. Also Google Maps is now upated as well from my APP Injector!

So I am making a quick ROM update to solve these issues. If you dont care about updating Google Maps from the Market and don't want Google Currents, then no need to reflash my ROM. However the missing library may mess you up on other google stuff. I just do not know. Google Currents was the only thing I found to be a problem.

Just because we turned on all the hidden settings does not mean they will work. MObile networks is on of them. It is not a phone. But your 3G Arnova stick should still work? But remember this is a update kernel from Arnova so I hope they did not take a step back and break it!

I will have to look into device status as that use to work on 1.4.

New rom flashed, bootup speed just as on the video - glad to see the bid wasn't speeded up!
AppInjector also working perfectly...

A couple of issues -
Settings / About Device / Status - error message 'The application Settings (process.com.android.settings' has stopped unexpectedly.
Same issue when accessing 'Wireless & Network settings / Mobile Networks so 3g stick not currently working.

had a problem flashing it this time, but managed to get there in the end, the fault was mine i pressed the wrong volume button

this rom is awesome, amazing work you guys, it's super fast and compared to the stock rom this is in a whole other class.
well done to the makers and testers for the work that has led to this release and all the features that are in it.

Try the 3rd party calender from the market called business calender it is available in a free and paid version. I find it miles better than the google calender. It sync with your Google calendar, yahoo etc so you get all your agenda etc on it!

Give it a try when you get your Rom installed.

Thanks Damo, have downloaded the ROM but ran out of time before work to download the video guide. I will read the readme in the ROM file and download the video tonight and give it a go. To be honest if only it natively supported google calendar and contacts sync would have been perfect for me - but the huge benefit of all the proper apps (nots appslib selection) will be a big bonus.Can't wait to finish at 2am and get going

I've dl'd it and will flash it in morning (2 in morning here at mo).

Watched vid, looks good.

Flashed and Installed this morning, everything went smoothly, much quicker booting time and nice clear system.

Now if only I can clear Google previous App History (the whole list of everything you've installed) - get rid of old crud that I've uninstalled I'd be really happy.

Bob, with clear status bar, any chance that can be carried over to when using an app, I know some apps can hide the bar (default video player for one). Anyone know how to auto-hide it? Or is it another Arnova only glitch.

Well I picked up an Arnova G2 10 yesterday to use for reading emails, a bit of work, and as a larger calendar than my HTC HD7/BB torch. I was really surprised to discover that it didn't support google calendar sync - teach me to read a bit more deeply before buying .

I can only say thanks to everyone for creating a ROM which will allow me to sync google calendar onto the Arnova - downloading instructions and the ROM - bit nervous as I last rooted/added a rom to a HTC Hero once over 3 years ago .

Any Hints and Tips for flashing tonigh for a first timer?

i have one issue need for speed hot pursuit its all white one the screen .
you told me in the past you have a working version for your 1.4 rom.

I didn't even look at the video. flashed, rebooted, then without putting in the sd card, copied the two files to the sd folder in the internal memory. installed and ran the program. no problem. then inserted the sd card and rebooted. then restored all apps with titanium. great job, I could swear there is a faster processor in the tablet. Great job, well worth the wait.

I guess I may have missed something and will start over. I downloaded the file and unzipped it. Ran the rk and flashed the new rom. After flash I rebooted the tablet. After the boot I checked the tab and checked what was installed and it was clean with just what was in the video. I then went back to the file and copied the App injector file to my sd card root. Installed the sd card in the tablet. Located the app injector in the sd root and clicked to install which it did. Then I clicked open and then I get the no applications message. I then uninstalled the app and deleted the file off of the sd card. I then connected the tablet to the pc and loaded the file directly to the flash memory and tried again with the same results. Deleted that again and tried the sd card again, still no luck. I will try again from scratch and let you know.
