power supply
For the record, device has run great since updating to a 4 amp PSU. Had to use the end off my old cord, so there was some solder and heat shrink involved, but it's way better. It probably helped that it was a PSU from a HDMI balun, which are sensitive and require high quality PSU's. In case anyone is new to electronics, generally: higher voltage = bad ; higher amperage = good. 5volt DC with anything 3A or above. Higher the more stuff you plug into you device, and no unpowered USB hubs. Also, most PSUs operate more poorly the closer you get to rated output (noise, voltage drop, etc) - especially cheap ones. So, the higher amperage the better...always do this before posting issues!

Also make sure connection to TV is good and try a stock Rom. If your device accepts a stock Rom and it won't fix the issue, I'd guess you're fried or it isn't flashing correctly. Since it just happened in the middle of use, most likely power issue (crappy power adapter) or overheating/sudden-death...
The flashing step always did correctly, and never got an error. I just have tried a stock rom and the problem still persists. I think that it is burned and died.Last edited by DiRKiNg; 18 December 2013, 00:09.

So pm me
1 stick model & date/serial
2 Rom that was working pre Rom that crashed
3 which version you were using when it crashed
4 type of stream if you know, that preceded crash (720, 1080, etc) (provably has no relation to crash)
5 rooms you've tried to flash
6 does boot up differ (before it freezes) after flashing different Roms?
7 how many amps on your PSU? (& it is 5v, correct?)
What version flash tool
8 OS you're flashing with ( XP, 7, Linux?)
9 how long you had it prior to crash
10 have you physically opened it before/after crash (if no, don't yet if you're still under warranty)
11 ANYTHING else you can think of...

MK702II microphone doesn't work. Wifi troubleshooting. MK802IV
Well I have just bought rikomagic MK702II keyboard. Everything works including the speaker on keyboard except microphone. Microphone in settings is ok it is shown on input devices but it doesn't work.
I am using neomodes firmware with sams kernel 720 NOC.
I have tried Skype and voipdicount. The speaker of the keyboard works but no microphone.
Any suggestions??
The second problem I had which I solved was that after the connection of the keyboard my 802IV couldn't connect with my repeater . When I removed the AES from my repeater and leave only psk wpa2 everything was fine. I have to notice here that my mk802iv was connecting properly with the aes repeater before the connection with mk702II keyboard. Now it is working excellent without the AES so I don't care about this problem but it stills very strange.

I have bought a used RKM MK802IV with old wifi. I am not satisfied with the wifi. The router stands 3 meters next to the television and its not possible to watch a youtube video. It has to load every 10 second and the video stops.
Wifi Analyzer: -65
Antutu:
2D and 3D 1920x1008
Seems the seller changed the firmware and maybe the kernel. Guess its the official one from RKM. It´s rooted.
Android/Kernel:
Linux version 3.0.36+ (ant@adminroot-X9DRL-3F-iF) (gcc version 4.6.x-google 20120106 (prerelease) (GCC) ) #574 SMP PREEMPT Thu Nov 7 18:33:34 CST 2013
Will the wifi signal be better with this rom? Do i have to change kernel, too?
Thank you.

If you dont want to overclock, just get the Sam stock kernel in that above post.
My wifi is just great with this rom, got full bars, connection excellent and got 50-60Mbps from my nas.
If it doesn't work good by then then look at this http://liliputing.com/2013/07/simple...rformance.html
And the final solution is to pull out the antenna out of the case (make a little hole in the case where the wire runs trough), then you will have the best wifi connection.Last edited by wimmetje; 15 January 2014, 22:43.

The MK809iii initially didn't have a real heatsink, just a layer of heat-conducting foil. It's the same stuff that is used on the bottom side of the MK802IV. I decided to add a 25x25x20 mm heat sink. That improved things, but it still suffered from a lack of airflow. So I bought a small fan and added that. Now the device is mostly stable and only crashes occasionally when using Chrome Beta.
I really believe that most Android sticks with the RK3188 are insufficiently cooled. Devices with the AP6210 WiFi do have a small heatsink, but from what I read it's still barely sufficient. Especially when you're using overclocked and/or 1080P kernels.
The recently launched RK3188T, which causes so much discussion, may have a big advantage over the RK3188: because of it's lower clock speed, it will become less hot. That makes it suitable for small devices with passive cooling, like our Android sticks.Freakbox V1 F/W 1.0.6
